What is the problem you see with the expansion tank? It leaks? Fails? Curious? I am doing some preventative maintenance etc. and was curious.

Mike Valdellon says:

Best vid on YouTube for this DIY. I had to use a spark plug extension to pry up the old tank from its mount while wiggling. Thanks!

prb 1962 says:

Very well explained Thankyou.

prb 1962 says:

Bmw has many parts that are made of plastic which deteriorates over time and makes repairing older cars difficult as the plastic becomes very brittle. When doing any work around these vehicles its wise to go easy before resorting to grabbing a big hammer lol.

Mark Edwards says:

Thanks for the vid and the advice on the oil cooler thermostat….ordered a new one when i ordered the new expansion tank just incase and yes it did snap in half!!! But thanks to your advice I was prepared. Not too bad a job to do, although like others have said the tank didnt come off as easily as yours seemed to, but with a little wiggling and pulling it came off in the end!!!

David Smith says:

Bazzyg says:

I've got a major leak in my 330Ci SMG. Puddle of coolant under the car and constant dripping. I removed the under tray protector and went under the car (badly) and saw coolant constantly dripping down the side of the tank (left side as you look up). I don't know if the problem is the lower hose or if the tank is cracked. 1 question if anyone knows….
I've got an SMG, so does my car have this oil coolant sensor. Would I have to order/replace it? Thanks!

Online Police says:

my tank doesnt want to slide on the smaller input. what do i do about that?

Ryuk says:

If your car is a manual.. do you need to have an automatic transmission oil cooler thermostat? Because when i pulled my off i did not have one.. oddly weird when i saw that

Ezekiel Reyes says:

This video help me a lot thank you so much

Frank J says:

Excellent video like everybody says! Thank you. It would help much if you could have also demonstrated how to take/remove the AT oil cooler thermostat off, and show the broken one vs the replacement. Yours broken right? Below your video, there is an ad for a thermostat for $15.79 from AutohausAZ. It's a simple thermostat that an off brand should last for a few years. What symptom will the display show when the AT thermostat is broken or is bad?

Edgetech Automotive says:

Great video, clear, concise, helpful. cheers!

Franco Gonzalez says:

Sorry man y have trouble trying to fit de narrower bottom hole.. just leaks through it

Rajab Isskandarani says:

Gilbert Arcilla says:

thanks buddy..well said

V.Vega says:

You got lucky it's been done before. The stock one is a motherfucker to get out.

Car Guy says:

The system was leaking at the bottom of the tank were it sits in the two "sockets" That clip with handle attachment is the stupidest design I've ever seen on a cooling system! What idiot thought that was a good idea? Anyway, I replaced the tank but it still leaks at the same place. I am guessing that the seat that receives the tank is goofed up in some way. Is it possible to seal that with some RTV or something?

Chuy 5.7 says:

I recently change the expansion tank but now when I drive there's a hissing sound coming from the expansion tank and a bit of smoke what you could be the cause of this .. please help

Star Diver says:

just bought an 03 330ci and after 30 mins of driving it this expansion tank popped and dumped all the coolant, shop is trying to charge me like 600$,definitely gonna start doing most of the maintenance myself because I'm pretty sure I got ripped off. tried telling me the tank was 160$ when everyone I see is 30-50$ smh. screw mechanics

o23hippy says:

I want to thank you for this video. You made this DIY easy and you did it without requiring fan and shroud removal! it was easy to follow and explained perfectly. Thanks so much for posting this video.

Jose Aae says:

What kind of affects does it have on the engine like if I wait on replacing it by just refilling the coolant over and over?

Mr. Trapezius says:

You pulled it out so easily.
