Do a video without the bad accent

JackTheLaird says:

@TheMeister210 I don’t know to be honest, the noise coming from mine was a
howling sound and only in drive or reverse if I remember rightly. You might
be best off getting yourself an automotive type stethoscope and going
around the various components in the engine bay to see if you can find the
offending article.

fuckin awsome, thank you sir! any videos on 2000 and up valve stem seal
replacement? if not im about to make one soon!

JackTheLaird says:

@MrAShergill , My pleasure Sir.

James Allen says:

Awesome Video JackTheLaird!!! My 1996 BMW 740il is doing the exact same
thing. So this video will save me a least $500.00. Just for reference sake,
this part is officially called the Rear Manifold Cover. The OSV (Oil
Separator Valve) is located on the front of the engine within the crank
shaft below the timing belt.

JackTheLaird says:

Gday, I dont think that the ticking noise is the OSV. The OSV will tend to
make the car make odd howling sounds when you put it in drive or reverse,
or at least thats what mine was doing. If the engine has not been started
for some weeks the hydraulic valves can drain there oil to the point that
the engine will need running for some time in order to pump themselves up
again. All the best!

MrAShergill says:

You’re a Don for posting that video. Looks a bit hard for my big hands,
I’ll get Wolverhampton’s B M Euroservice to do it. Respect.

TheMeister210 says:

@JackTheLaird Well, I have the same symptoms but only after 2000 Rpms and
also it smokes on startup.

Zoran Svitlica says:

My car is smoking from exhaust on passenger side only, is it still OSV or
something else?

Mantas Kak says:

hi,maybe anybody can help me..my m60 sucks air froms dipstick tube, engine
lost power…but osv is GOOD,so whats the problem?

JackTheLaird says:

@Linuxhax Thanks! I hope to have an exhaust mod video in the pipe line so
to speak…

TheMeister210 says:

@JackTheLaird I have an important question. You know that plastic thing on
the inside of the Manifold directly behind the OSV in the rear once you
remove the OSV? Mine is loose… What does it connect to?

Matthew Donley says:

I used your movie to research a a 740i that was for sale here in Denver
with a “blown” engine. did your dipstick test before I bought it for
1500.00. Guess what? You were dead on and now I am driving an awesome 1999
740i for a total price of just over 2 grand! I have you to thank for my
good fortune! Quite entertaining as well! Thank you from the bottom of my
heart!

TheMeister210 says:

Having same problem but my engine is making a squealing noise after 2000
RPM could this also be the same reason? Never had car problems on my 2001
740i

TheMeister210 says:

@JackTheLaird what I am talking about you are filming from around 3:18 –
3:31 “clean Well” I was cleaning it and that piece was loose. Do you
remember anything it connects to? its inside the air intake manifold I
assume
