I’m glad it helped! I think it must happen when it freezes and the orange
rubber bit gets stuck, all good fun with the E46!

oh thanks but i just wondered if you would show then working and do a how
to change wipers vid

2k9amh says:

is this for compact or saloon

Rich Gee says:

No problem, i’m not sure what the orange elements are for exactly. I think
that they can go iffy when it freezes and become stuck. Good to see 140k
miles on a 2001!

Cheers for posting this, just fixed non-working washers to both sides. In
the end took orange rubber elements and springs completely out as wouldn’t
reassemble in working fashion, perhaps age had got to them and weren’t
flexible enough, (2001 and 140,000 hard miles!) Not sure what the long term
effects will be not having those bits in there. Will get me through the MOT
re-test at least!

Rich Gee says:

This is on a saloon, i’m sure the compact would be similar

Many thanks. my n/s jet was a pain and I could not get to the bottom of the
problem. I thought it was a leak in the pipe somewhere. Anyway thanks for
posting. that saved me some cash.
