rapidotorpedo says:

Well they had bad bearings or so that clogged up and destroyed trans among
other theories. Trans failiur was common in 2000-2003 models only though.
other years would have to be a coincidence

DJ Collins says:

Would an automatic transmission from a 1999 honda accord 2.3 vtech fit in a
1999 acura CL with a 2.3 vtech.

eishiba10 says:

This is very helpful. Even though mine is going to be on a 91corolla rather
than a prelude the general idea of how to get it out of the car without
taking the engine out applies. So you just lowered your jack as you tried
to get the transmission off the engine? So whats the trick to get it back
in? Balance the transmission on the jack while sliding it under the car?

Fixbook says:

Yeah getting the transmission back in is the toughest part. I slide it
under the car, and then pick it up and wiggle it on in there. I actually
just took that old transmission to the junkyard last week, it weighed 87
pounds. You shouldn’t have to worry about your clutch getting out of
alignment as long as you aligned it and bolted the pressure plate on there.
Did you stick your alignment tool back in there and it wouldn’t fit? Is
that why your saying the clutch gets out of alignment?

Fixbook says:

No, I’m not sure, sorry, but thanks for your comment.

eishiba10 says:

@HondaHowTo1 I watched a guy do put a transmission back in but he was a
bigger guy. He laid on the ground face up, took the tranny in hand and
acted like he was lifted weights and put it in place like it was nothing.

ZekeComa says:

well, basically.what happened was when I was taking off the transmission to
get it back out to see if it did misalign. The transmission just wouldn’t
come off and I had to take off the pressure plate bolts just to get the
bugger off. :(. I thought it might have been misaligned when fighting with
it, because it just wouldn’t slide in no matter how much I tried.

Fixbook says:

Unfortunately not. I don’t have the means right now.

Fixbook says:

You may still have one in there. If you wiggle it with a big crow bar and
it still doesn’t open up a bit, then you probably do still have one in
there. I’m sorry but without actually being able to look at it I can’t tell
you which one or what your problem is. Did you remove the mounts that are
connected to it? I believe there is one behind the engine and then that one
on the passenger side.

Stephen Jackson says:

Hey I have a 97 accord but its an automatic, I know there’s no clutch
lines, but I was curious, are all the nuts and bolts in the same location?

Darkmand8 says:

can you show me where to replace the P0753-shift solenoid A circuit
electrical? I have a 1998 acura 2.3cl automatic

xeronicus says:

its taken me about 10 hours to do my 92 accord(mainly the fact i have odd
work hours and its been raining alot lately, never do a clutch job
outside), finally got the transmission apart and putting in a clutch
tomorrow after I get out of work.

ZekeComa says:

Hey. I removed all my bolts from my transmission, but it doesn’t wiggle
like that. It is just stuck in place like I did leave a bolt in, but I’ve
rechecked many times and there is no bolt left in on mounting =

jonathan dyer says:

I wish I had air tools when I did all that….lol

tool maker says:

hey man. fantastic work. im an apprentice aircraft maintenane engineer but
i worked in a garage for over a year prior so i know my stuff too, just
wondering, i have a private job coming up to change the tranny on a 1998
corolla. ive done my share of them but never a toyota. its automatic too.
whats ur opinion or difficulty relative to your ‘lude. same, easier, or
harder (it has a crossmember/subframe to drop first) but i have a car hoist

k crofoot says:

Holy Cow!! How hard was that thing to put back in place?!!

ZekeComa says:

Well, I managed to do everything right. Got a transmission jack. Car isn’t
high enough to get the transmission on the stand from the outside. So I
have to do it from the engine bay. I’ve failed trying to get the
transmission in many times. Clutch gets out of alignment. I struggle
getting it in due to a tight space. I’d like to get the mounting studs for
the transmission mount, but they seem very stuck in deep and hard to get
something to grip them to take out, since they get stuck a lot manuever

MatrixEmpire08 says:

You are a legend, that was pretty smooth going too 🙂 knowing cars, they’ll
try and make your job as hard as possible. Cheers, great vid.

Fixbook says:

@opsvideo2008 Thank you very much for the encouraging comment.

komodomoe says:

I’m doing a 5 speed manual swap on my automatic 01 Accord. I decided that
it would be easier to swap the whole engine/transmission assembly out
rather then pull the tranny out so I’m buying a newer F23 engine and doing
all the work outside of the vehicle then borrowing a hoist. Have you ever
pulled the engine out the top? how tough is it?

Fixbook says:

Glad to hear it came out nice and easy for ya. Did you get everything back
together all right?

John Sumera says:

man this video helps me alot..it gives an idea how hard it will be when i
do it myself…i dont know if i can put them back those pieces and bolts
that u disconected

Fixbook says:

@hoopfan71 Well its been a long time since I did it. I looked up the book
time, which is 2.9 hours, and considering that I didn’t have any book or
software instructions at the time, I can assure you it took me longer than
3 hours. I’d guess it took me somewhere around 6 to 8 hours because I know
I struggled with putting the transmission back in because I did it by
myself.

Fixbook says:

lol yes they do make things easier.

ZekeComa says:

Not yet. I had oil buildup all inside my transmission, on the outside of my
transmission, all over my oil pan, back of the engine (where oil cooler
is). So I spent time cleaning it off (pita). My liquid gasket can had no
pressure so couldn’t use it and the oil pan gasket between the oil pan and
RMS plate was cracked. So I had to order parts for it and liquid gasket, I
broke two cotter pins on shift cables. So right now it’s still on blocks
and transmission still on the ground. 🙁

Fixbook says:

O no. Well, let me know how it went, once you get everything back together.

Fixbook says:

That sounds a bit easier. Thanks for commenting.
