Volvo XC90 Front Control Arm Replacement DIY (2016-Present Volvo SPA XC90, XC60, P5)

►Keeping your front wheels in place is tough, but your control arms can handle it. Though, after a while, the rubber bushings and ball joints within the arms will wear out, leaving you with some sloppy suspension. Replacing your control arms is the easiest way to fix that. It’ll restore the steering feel and comfort your Volvo XC90 or XC60 was meant to have.

The bushings and joints in the control arms should last you a good while, somewhere between 70,000 and 100,000 miles. When they wear, the steering may become imprecise, and you can hear knocking or clunking while driving over bumps. It’s still safe to drive on them for some time, but they can eventually fail catastrophically, which’ll cost you much more time and money. Thankfully, replacing your Volvo’s control arms isn’t a tough job, and can be done with simple hand tools in the driveway.

In this video, Mike Hidalgo, FCP Euro’s Professional DIYer, replaces the front control arms on a Volvo SPA XC90.

@FCP Euro – you need to mention that people should get an alignment after performing this work.

I appreciate you sharing this video on replacing the lower control arm for the XC90. I actually completed the job a while ago, using a slightly different method. I’m definitely looking forward to your guide on the upper control arm replacement, as I plan to purchase the kit from you shortly.
