Keeping up with common maintenance items is crucial to keeping your Volvo running in perfect order and is generally a simple task in terms of installation. By doing the maintenance yourself you’ll save time, money, and you’ll know the job was done right. Jay is here to show you how to get this quick and easy job done right.

Spark plugs and ignition coils are often overlooked by average owners since they’re only changed once every 50k-100k miles and are usually hidden under layers of plastic or metal. However, they’re important in keeping engines running smoothly with no misfires. If you notice a rough idle, intermittent loss of power, or otherwise unusual engine behavior, you may have faulty plugs or coils.

tomcat360 says:

Are the markings on the coils related to the firing order. I have a bad coil on cylinder 4. I don't know which one? Thanks

Nikolay Delibozov says:

Should I replace the spark plugs if I am replacing the coils? (one coil went bad and I changed all of them)

Luis Gonzalez says:

the spark plugs are quite tight in my Volvo (2004 S80 T6), was able to loosen all but 2. Don't want to put to much force on them. Left the car cool down for days, but nothing yet. What is your recommendation on loosening up those spark plugs. I bought both plugs and coils at FCP Euro. Also it will be great if you mention in all your great videos, at least the mayor diagnostic clue to replace the part you are replacing. In my case All the sudden the engine started hesitating heavily, seems to recover for few seconds raising RPMs and running fine for few seconds and then hesitates again, some times up to the point to turning off. I starting to doubt that replacing coils and plugs will fix the problem. What FCP euro part should I buy and replace instead?

Rudy Leso says:

I replaced the coils and the spark plugs in my 2012 Volvo S60 2.5L T5 is still sputtering… we just purchased the fuel injectors from your website. I can't find any YouTube videos and how to DIY the fuel injectors on a 2012 and newer Volvo

Eric Lessard says:

Do coils necessarily have to be replaced? Why not just the spark plugs?

Christian Jaussi says:

great video.  followed it to replace my plugs and coils.  the car had a misfire in cylinder one that was bad enough to cause the "engine system service urgent" message with reduced performance.  now that the fix is complete, how do I reset the warning to return the engine to proper performance?

theorchestra says:

@FCP Euro – Do you sell replacement bolts for the t25 posts that hold the turbo charge air pipe to the engine? A previous mechanic left one missing, and the other stripped.

John Hubbell says:

Shouldn't the area around the old spark plugs be cleaned Prior to removing them? To avoid debris from getting in the cylinder?
What is your advice on cleaning the area around the old spark plug. I realize some spark plug ports are clean but mine are not on my 2004 s60 2.4l.

Criloro80 says:

Thanks for DIY video. What's the recommended gap for non OEM spark plugs? Thanks in advance. Greetings from Honduras.

Really Happenings says:

Every single one of those fasteners has a torque setting. Also, occasional mechanics probably shouldn't be using impact to drive a T30 into an aluminum head.
