Thanks, before the vid, I did wonder what the shifter in the wrong position
light meant lol.

Robert DIY says:

Hey, you are right, no SRS light. I’ll look into that. LOL

Bmw7er says:

Your Airbaglight isn’t working ^^

Angela Knight says:

Thanks. That’s what I figured. I think it’s a short or bad lock system
relay. I’ll have it chased down.

Robert DIY says:

That is not suppose to happen. Something is wrong but I have no idea what.

Angela Knight says:

Hi! I did have the switch on the roof in the wrong position – thanks!
Another question if you don’t mind: Now that the lights come on, I found
out if only my driver’s door is unlocked and the door is closed, the doors
lock automatically when the lights fade out. Is that normal? Or do I have a
short/bad relay? My 98 V70 does not do this. If all doors are unlocked it
does not auto lock on its own. This is probably why the last owner had the
cabin lights turned off.

Robert DIY says:

No knowledge of any foot well switched unless they are referring to relays,
etc.

Angela Knight says:

Yes, that does help, thanks. Tells me I need to check a few things. I
looked up the specs and under standard amenities for a 97 850 it says the
interior lights have “four switches in footwell”. Do you know of any
switches in the footwell? Can’t say I’ve ever heard of that. Anyway, I will
look at mine and I’ll let you know if the bulb or changing the roof switch
fixes it. Thanks again.

Robert DIY says:

My lights do come on when I unlock the car. They also stay on for a few
minutes, I think they go out when I put my key in the ignition. Not sure
about the fade but if they are not coming on, make sure the switch at the
panel on the roof is switched to the door position. Not sure if the bulb
out makes a difference or not. Hope that helps.

Angela Knight says:

Hi! Thanks for your great videos. I have a question about the cabin lights
on a 97 850. I bought it used and my specs say the car should have
Delayed/fade courtesy lights (like my 98 v70 wagon has). However my cabin
lights only come on when I toggle the switch by the rearview mirror – they
don’t all come on when I unlock the car like on my 98. I have one interior
bulb out on the driver’s side I have to replace. Would one bulb out keep
the lights from coming on and fading? Any ideas? THX!!

Robert DIY says:

Lights out is normal operation, lights on is the function that should be
temporary. On the recycle switch, light on means that the system is
recycling the air and you will NOT get fresh air. Light off means that the
car is pulling in fresh air as preferred by Volvo. AC light on is system
off, light out is system on.

peta ward says:

Thanks that was a great video, just one question, on the air recirculation
switch, next to the aircon… which is on and which is off, with the light
or with out the light. Thanks

Good job

Null B says:

can you make a full review off a volvo 855 please 🙂

Robert DIY says:

Yes I will, as soon as I clean my car. LOL

Robert DIY says:

I believe it’s the same as your radio except for the fact that it was
pulled from a 960 so the face plate is a little different.

Robert DIY says:

Finally got the cruise control video posted. You tube won’t let me link to
it but you may be able to search it of use this id string: xe20tVMEwtc

Robert DIY says:

Sure. It’s very easy. Make sure the front cruise switch is pulled towards
the window. Then, while you are driving at any speed above 35 mph, press
the button on the end, top or bottom it doesn’t matter, and the cruise will
kick in. Volvo cruise is real good for maintaining the speed even up hill
(if you are running the recommended 91+ octane). I’ll do the video tomorrow.

Donovan Williams says:

stupid question, can you make a video that demonstrates how the cruise
control works

Andres Blanco says:

what is the average fuel mpg?

Robert DIY says:

Cool. Just be aware that you will have to fix things all the time because
the car is real old.

Robert DIY says:

It’s best to go to Fuel . gov to view actual data that people enter to
track their mileage. The turbo models usually get between 17 and 23 around
town and 24 to 29 on the highway. The low side is usually obtained by cars
that have a poor preforming o2 sensor.

gooddad1975 says:

You got the high end volvo radio

Andres Blanco says:

nice, thank you , i tink will buy a 850 t5 too, i like yours 😀
