J-hose replacement: 15 to 30 minutes ($30 / $110 / $180)
In this video I show the location of 2 evaporator hoses that go bad on the Volvo S70, 850, V70 vehicles. Usually causes the emissions error code P0440.

How do you access and where is the J hose on a 1998 V70 XC? Thank you
great vid as usual rob. what about the 960 throwing the P0442 code? any idea what that usually is? This is the last thing I'm doing to my pristine 98 s90. We are moving back to japan in two months, so i may sell give it to a friend or sell it to the state. Ive had 5 960s. Now its time to return to not ever having to need a car.
Location the same on a 98 v70 awd?
And my car is also reading that it’s lean and Rich which doesn’t make sense (1998 Volvo V 70 non turbo)
Hi Robert I have a Volvo V 70 1998 and has a code P0455 but it says it’s the Evap leak is it bad for my car?
Thanks for the video Robert! what part number would I order for the L and the J Hose for a 1999 Volvo S80 2.9?
Are you sure the 850 uses the hoses? Fcp euro doesn't list them for 850's.
I have a s40 1.9t
What's the part number? I cannot find it anywhere.
i need to do this on my 14 s60 🙁 im having trouble finding it
Aloha mahalo
If these are bad. Do they effect the performance of the car?
Robert, can we electric tape the hoses till its fixed proper to pass inspection right quick ?
Crap video. you didn't show the location of this hose very well.
very informative…this is my problem rt now…thank you
I just got another 'new to me' 850. So all new bugs to work out. It's a 95 turbo 2.3 sportwagon edition. Just says 'sportwagon' where it would say 850 on the back. I have the p0440 code thrown (oddly it has an obd2 plug in the dash where it would be on a 96 or newer model) , only that canister thing isn't above my fuel filter, or any associated hoses. Are you familiar with this odd turbo model at all?
Not like this on a 98 S70 manual transmission – please advise
Good job, thanks
I have a 98 s70 MANUAL and the j hose isn't where you said it is here, help ?
Hey Robert, where is that on a Volvo S60 awd T5, 2003 ,and the canister. I can't pass the emission test becouse the code P0442
Rock Auto "vapor canister purge valve hose" https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/volvo,1998,v70,2.4l+l5+turbocharged,1434000,exhaust+&+emission,vapor+canister+purge+valve+hose,15614
Trying to replace these hoses and can’t find them anywhere, do you have a part number or perhaps a link for them?
Robert I like your videos. Have a ? The evap value. My Volvo s70 1998 has a hard time starting after fueling. Is it the hoses or the value?
