Good job turning a pain to headache to success! Interesting to see that as the failure point. I've seen on the 850s where the metal fatigue occurs at the body instead, likely due to excess force absorbed at that point instead of being dissipated through the door check mechanism.
First video I’ve seen of this. My door is similar to yours was. Strap was torn out as of the door was hit then replaced. It’s the original door though. Strange stuff!
