Hi Robert, on a 2004 v70 volvo, the ABS light came on , i took the fuse out that goes for that,
still have the speedometer, odometer, everything working fine,
any thoughts on that? Also, is it dangerous to drive around , as i read somewhere that the brakes will work fine, but if you have to suddenly stop short they will lock up, and the steering, will not work either.
I not mechanical, if necessary, i would pull the module out and have it fixed, but not sure where i live in the Knoxville area of Tennessee where to bring it.
Any suggestions and thoughts, appreciated.
THank you
Jim

The ABS on my 1997 V70 intermittently kicks in when braking.
I know when this is likely to happen because I can hear a ticking sound inside the car when I'm driving. When there is no ticking the brakes work normally.
The ABS light does not illuminate. Any ideas?

I striped a e5 bolt head  off a  module … best thing  I was told to do and it worked is hook a positive battery cable to a small bolt or a something like that a weld it to the striped head of the e5 bolt …it worked but took like 2 hrs to get to the bolt id never want to strip one again

I have an intermittent ABS warning light on my V70, but until the cruise control dies, I can live with it.
It's booked in for it's MOT (annual test) tomorrow. Usually sails through, so fingers crossed. :O)

I live in France, and when the ABS module from my 1998 V70R started to play up I sent it to EcuSolutionsWales in Swansea. Excellent service from them, I had it back in a week and for about £100 it was once again in perfect working order. Personally I agree with Robert, I didn't think for that type of component it was worth trying to fix myself.

Hmm solder balance, i cant see that having any effect, sounds like a smokescreen to stop anyone understanding the real problem.
I bet the coating can be dissolved with the right chemical, cracks in joints are the real problem.
Smoke screens to stop people repairing there own device.

Also with a bad ABS ,sometimes the auto trans won't downshift when you come to a stop. You have to turn engine off to reset. Ben living with this for 5 years on 99 S70. I'm drivin that car till Jesus comes back.

Sup Robert, Im having a problem where my alternator is not charging. I've replaced the alternator and had it load tested at the parts store. Both the battery and alternator checked out fine. But, every now and then the guage meter reads low in the truck. I then check the battery with a multimeter and read 11.9v. could this be a wiring issue? Bad ground? Any advice is appreciated

John Maass says:

This looks a lot more fun then the alternator I've got wedged on this ford escape
