VWGenuineParts says:

It doesn’t matter – just make sure nothing moves. Please remember that,
whilst we’ll try to advise you, getting it right is down to you and we
can’t take any responsibility for damage or loss. Many thanks

Does the same process apply for engine BKY? seems they are pretty much the
same

VWGenuineParts says:

Hello! Thanks for your message. We regret we can’t comment or advise on
turning any pulleys that aren’t locked out. The proceedure set out by
Volkswagen is the one shown in the video so we would recommend you only
follow this. Hope that helps! Kindest regards

before you put on the MAIN TIMING BELT, did you position the tentioner @ 10
oclock position? according to a haynes illustration , the tentioner is
turned to 10 0clock position AND THEN THE BELT IS REFITED AND TENTIONED .
IS this recommended?

greetings . i am working on the same engine and would appreciate advice.
after i takoff the secondary and primary belt, i will TURN THE crankshaft
sprocket 6 teeth back so that if both cams move there will be no DANGER.
WHEN i put the SECONDARY small belt , is it ALRIGHT FOR me to keep BOTH
CAMS locked and keep CRANK 6 teeth away 4from tdc? i will turn CRANK BACK
TO TDC when i put on the primary belt, but is it alirght to keep it 6 teeth
back when PUTTING ON the secondary belt? thanks

VWGenuineParts says:

Hi Spameister, thanks for your question. There are 2 possible locations.
The first one is at the back right of the engine on the inlet manifold and
is held on by a 5mm allen key. The second location is behind the camshaft
pulley, so a bit more tricky. Good luck! Regards, Team VWGenuineParts.co.uk

Could u tell me if vw polo 2007 has a timing belt? Also, if the engine has
lost its power over the last year or so, would it fix the problem if i
replace the fuel filter? Thanks

VWGenuineParts says:

Hi, thanks for your question. If your Polo is a standard 1.4 then it would
have a cambelt. 1.2 engines and 1.4 TSi don’t. Please check our website for
cambelt kit prices. As far as the loss of power it would be difficult to
say what may be wrong. If you haven’t changed the fuel filter for over 2
yrs or 20,000 miles then it needs doing anyway but you really need to book
it in for a diagnostic check with your local Volkswagen Retailer. Hope that
helps! Kindest regards, Team VWGenuineParts.co.uk

before i put on the primary belt , i have been told to make sure that
tentioner plate is pointing at 10 oclock position. i will START at the
water pump, crank, idler, CAM and then end @ the secondary idler near the
water pump.

VWGenuineParts says:

Difficult to say of course without hearing it but it is possible. Having
said that, we don’t have any known issues with cambelt noises on that
engine so I would suggest you get your local Volkswagen dealer to check it
out. Don’t leave it in case it fails!! Keep watching out for new videos.

one last question. the question is about the small secondary belt. the last
item the small belt goes over is the tentioner? i start from the inlet cam
from the top then the outlet cam and then finally the bottom?or is it
better to put the belt starting from the tensioner side?

Terelle2010 says:

Golf 1.4 E has noise coming from the engine could it be the cambelt?

VWGenuineParts says:

It’s not necessary on this engine.
