i9-9900K Cadillac Platinum — Detailed Build Video — Former Member Exclusive

NOTE: This used to be a member exclusive video, hence the “Exclusive” in the thumbnail. I thought about making a new thumbnail, but meh… this way you know which videos were released as exclusive videos after they finally get made public.

What would I have changed on it in retrospect? Not much, 2019 was another time in the PC business. The storage options and prices were quite different and we didn’t know about the 30 series coming out in 2020 yet.

Overall this was a good PC, had you built in 5 years ago, it would still be a good PC.

Thank you YouTube Members! – Enjoy this Exclusive Build Video on the i9-9900K!

When the i9-9900K launched, a lot of people called it “overpriced” from day one. Is it? That’s perhaps in the eye of the beholder, but today we’re going to take a second look at it in more detail.

This is the 2nd in a series of videos on the new i9-9900K build, there will also be videos on the recent Ryzen 7 2700X build as well:

My advice is to pair a GTX 1080 TI or RTX 2080 or higher with the i9-9900K. I also suggest a i9-9900K if you plan to upgrade to a top end GPU in the next 3 years.

If you’re at a GTX 1080 or RTX 2070 or below and plan to stay there for awhile, the Ryzen 7 2700 is a better deal for you.

Basically the same build I have except for different manufacturers on MB, case and Ram. Great Job TD. I love those free Coffee Coasters!!

@stronkveak5917 says:

how does it hold up vs a 7800X3D and 14900K?

@masterk5066 says:

I almost got the same setup lol Corsair case Corsair psu 128gbram though. It’s good for 1440 but starting to struggle at 4k unless graphics aren’t demanding

@jerryshort6380 says:

I don't know about that board, but my gigabyte aorus master X570 board, it's metal back plate has thermal pads under it where the vrms are.

@leechburglights says:

40:00 So glad you made that RAM Comparison video. Currently using Corsair RGB (non Pro) Ram in the 3900x system (previously the 1800x build). Love it, but sits on floor now and don't get to enjoy it. Also paid $180 per 16gb kit :/ oh well, prices have dropped so I did invest in 3200 speed ram for my r5 1600 system (which I'll put the 1800x into now).

@leechburglights says:

31:45 totally agree what a mess, and try to build a "pretty" system!
