This video demonstrates how to remove a stock diverter valve, check for failure, and replace it with an updated valve. The process is very simple and is a great DIY for people with basic mechanical skills and minimal tools.

Volkswagen’s diaphragm style DV is prone to failure, especially on tuned cars with increased boost levels. To correct the problem, VW released updated versions, such as Revision D. The plastic piston does not tear like a diaphragm DV can.

Just a heads up to anyone who watches this. If you have a diaphragm valve, it's probably best to go ahead and upgrade to the piston. Turns out my older valve developed a tear, small enough to go unnoticed but large enough to cause my K04 turbo to have to work harder to build up the same boost. Well, long story short, my K04 needs a rebuild/replacement after only 35K miles because of excess shaft play due to overrun.

Great video ECS!

*ECS Tuning —–Wow, thanks so much for this great quality video, you don't know how much I appreciate a steady camera hand! I also appreciate you not saying "umm or uhhhh this piece with that piece". A lot of other videos are like that and I can't see what they are doing.

Im getting that same code, Would this same process be the same with a 2008 volkswagen passat fsi 2.0t? Thanks so much in advance!*
