Good to hear things went well.

Kishore R says:

Thanks a lot!!. Yesterday i was able to replace the engine air filter. I
did not remove the MAF sensor at all. I removed the Air intake thing and
pulled up the cover and turned it around 180 deg with the MAF sensor
intact. Then replaced the filter, put the cover back on and also the air
intake. I was so happy i could do it finally :). Thanks for the video
again.!

Norann Aguirre says:

Oh okay thanks…perhaps I can convince my dad to go at it again, he
stopped after a while because he was afraid he might break the cover
somehow.

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

PM with some info sent.

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

No latches that I have run into… as in this video, some good pulling is
needed. The rubber grommets like to take hold of those mounting pins.

Norann Aguirre says:

Hi ExoVCDS, I have the 2007 volkswagen Jetta 2.5 Wolfsburg edition.
Anyways, my father and I have been trying to remove the motor cover but it
will not budge. Are there any latches or snaps that w should know about?
Any tips on how to remove the cover will be helpful! Thanks you.

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

There might be enough slack in the MAF wiring, so that you can leave it
connected and then flip the whole engine cover over to the right… if you
can’t get the connector off, but I will wish you luck for tomorrow.

Kishore R says:

hi, the problem is with the electrical connector. I got little blisters
today trying to pull it :), will try your advice tomorrow!. Thanks.

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

Hi, are you having problems with the clamp or the electrical connector? The
connector has a little tab that you need to bend towards the wiring, push
the connector against the MAF while you bend the tab at the same time…
then pull the connector off.

Kishore R says:

hi ExoVCDS!, thanks for the great video. I ordered an enigner air filter
online but i am unable to remove the MAF sensor. I have tried for an hour
and finally gave up. Is there any technique to remove the MAF sensor. Can
you please let us know?. Thanks,

Nice to hear! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!

My father and I used this video today to change the spark plugs and filter
on my car. We would’ve been lost w/out this! Thanks so much for taking the
time to make this.

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

Hi Jay, sorry about the late reply… for some reason I did not get a
notice about your post. I’m glad that things still turned out well! Thanks
for watching & taking the time to comment!

Jay K says:

Thank you for this video! I just came in the house after replacing my air
filter. However, I was unable to remove the MAF sensor that you removed so
effortlessly, so I left it alone to avoid any damage. Additionally, I
lifted the plastic cover slowly from the front passenger side & it popped
up easily which allowed me to swap the air filter while it was
perpendicular in the engine bay. While the video didn’t entirely work for
me, it gave me the confidence to do the swap. Thank you Jay K.

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

No. Bosch & other manufactures are coating the threads with corrosion
protection (eg. Nickel-plated shell). Adding anti-seize can cause over
tightening because there is less resistance when turning the spark plug. If
it is used or needed (plug came out with difficulty) a little bit of
anti-seize can ensure that the plug going back in will come out again…
although chasing the spark plug hole with a tap would be a better choice.

Robbie McCarthy says:

Thanks for taking the time to make these 2.5 videos. Do you anti-sieze on
the plug threads? Why or why not?

Kurt Jr Wuckert says:

Super helpful vid! What are your thoughts on just leaving the whole engine
cover off if you were to install a basic Cold Air Intake? Does the cover do
anything for engine noise cancellation of heat dissipation? Am I missing
anything vital other than air filtration that the cover does?

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

Bosch for the later models… phone your local VW Dealer Parts Store and
give them your VIN# and they will tell you which plugs to buy.

Maraud3r43 says:

What are the original brand of plugs in the car?

CyberMerz says:

thanks for the video

ketoi12345678 says:

thanks 🙂

freedumb15 says:

Nice video. I have a question I took my girls 05 jetta 2.5L to get a
diagnostic and the cpu read fan 1 circuit. Do you have an idea of what it
can be?

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

Yes, this snap-on socket has a magnet in it. You can get sockets that have
a rubber liner on the inside that does the same thing (holds the plug).

Danny says:

thanks man, saved me alot of hassle

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

Brandon Clary says:

Does that took for the spark plug have a magnet on the end or how does it
pull the plug out of there?

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

Sorry, doesn’t sound familiar. Have you got the exact code description so I
can look for some info?

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

NGK for BGP,BGQ,CBUA,CBTA Engines. Thanks for watching & taking the time to
comment!

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

It might reduce a bit of engine noise… should not be an issue leaving it
off. Thanks for watching & taking the time to comment!
