Replace Heated Side Mirror Glass. EASY! (Any Volkswagen)

Replace Heated Side Mirror Glass. EASY! (Any Volkswagen)

I got a quick video for you today! Replacing a broken or non-functional heated door mirror glass/heating element is incredibly easy. I did this on a 2014 VW Jetta Sportwagen, but the job is identical on any Jetta, Passat, GTI, Golf, Alltrack, Tiguan, Touareg, etc after the mid 2000’s.

This is the exact mirror I installed: https://amzn.to/2Wn0gdW (paid link)

Sorry for the stupid question but does the battery need to disconnected?

@chrish5791 says:

Don’t want to get those wires reversed or you’ll have a cooled mirror instead of a heated one!

I'm playing on just ordering the mirror and not the heating element, is there a specific glue I should use? I guess it's there a glue that doesn't take damage from heating up. Jb weld?

тупой совет. Если тебе стекло нужно целым оставить, ты его также снимать будешь?… советчик гуев.

Excellent video, very uplifting and a real money saver!

The replacement driver's side mirror glass that I bought for my wife's 2007 Rabbit cost a mere $15, and installation was as simple as depicted in the video with one exeption: My replacement did not include the springy stainless steel thing that has a blob of grease on the end. I was able to remove it from the original mirror by force with a pair of pliers – Thus breaking a little bit of the black plastic. But the stainless part came out undamaged and snapped right into place on the new mirror. After that, everything went smoothly.

BTW I didn't bother disconnecting the battery because I figured there was no chance of the mirror de-fogger running without the vehicle's defroster turned on.

Thanks very much for this exceptionally helpful video.
