After our recent purchase of a MK7 Golf R with a blown up engine, it is now time to drop the engine to get ready for tear down! We decided it’d be fun to make a how to (DIY) video on dropping this engine! Most Volkswagen engines drop out the same way, so this video can be used for context for most VW / Audi Engines!

I discharge the ac in the air. I told the Police to take my future children from me. They will be back!
Lmao…. Refrigerate comment killed me. “Maybe you hate your children”.
My tiguan 2010 Wolfsburg, 4 motion. Has the oul light that flashes after it gets hot. Most likely needs balance shaft seals. I have checked all the easy stuff without a teardown. I'm thinking mk 7 golf R swap. So if I do engine and dsg. I'll need ecm, tcm, most likely to keep it eas cluster that matches ecm. Any ideas?
So just pay a shop to do it? Gotcha. I'll stop at changing my own oil.
Edwin Starr…
This is 88% identical to bmw x1 or x2, even the connection locations and styles. The x1 and x2 also use Haldex for awd so its VERY similar lol
I'm pretty sure that this video shows a faster way to do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIpqoQPuN5w
I love this channel I’m owning a golf R manual 2014 and this is the perfect video for me!
For the Fuse box cables, number them with a marker and snap a pic
This video would have really helped me, about 3 months ago
A simpler way is to unbolt the AC pump from the engine and leave it behind. No need to de gas the system.
this content is so good idk what to say
I work at VW Dealership in Austria and this engine Is normally removed in 50min.
Hehe this reminds me of how I do most things. You do one thing and forget about another. Rinse and repeat.
If ever I have to remove the engine from my alltrack, a 5 cylinder is going back in. Loved my urs4 for this reason.
REALLY enjoy these videos. I wouldn't dream of attempting this, but I find this fascinating to watch. Cheers, folks!
Oh yes the joys of working on a vw
