The one I received works but the illumination lights are green?? I'm not very happy about it, now I have to buy a new switch from somewhere else and hope it's red lights like they are supposed to be…

Phil Chadwick says:

Thank you. Yesterday I turned on my golf engine .(with the door open) to de-ice the car. I didn't notice that I'd bumped the wiper stalk as I got in. The wipers dumped a kilo or more of snow straight onto the switch cluster. I wiped it down and went for a walk while the car warmed up. Later, whilst shopping I opened the windows as they were fogged. Then I couldn't close them. Pretty sure water will turn out to be the problem.

I've actually taken these apart, removed the switch cover, disassembled the switch, and cleaned the contacts. Be VERY careful when you do this, and take a photo before removing the leaf switches from the contact. They are keyed, and MUST go back in the same manner they went in. This is one of the very few switches i found that can be disassembled, and the contacts cleaned.

Oh man! I REALLY wish I had found this video before dropping my car and the new switch off at the shop down the road…. I thought I would have to take the door apart to get to the switch! Now I know better! I will definitely have to check your channel the next time I need a small repair done to my MKV Jetta. Thanks so much!!!

Great how-to! Worked exactly as shown for Driver's-side window switch replacement on my 2007 Rabbit (2-door). Completed the job for $20 part+shipping and 10 minutes of my time. (Probably takes 5 minutes, but I was being extra careful.) Thank you!

Christina Itanyi says:

I just replaced mine today with the help of this video. The only thing I loosened the tabs by sticking the screwdriver through the slits on the side instead of down through the top and it came out a whole lot easier. The entire cost was $37.00 for the part the dealership wanted $81.00 plus tax for the part and labor. Thank you so much.
