I have had problem changing fuel filter on Golf 4 SDI.On Mahle filter (1j0 127 401a) the termostatic T part just couldn’t sit deep enogh and I pushed it with pinchers so I could tight it a mickey mouse pin(clip) and it seemed allright. I was suspicious so I removed pin/clip and T part and the inside plastic part with two O-rings and a little metal round part were left attached to the filter. Mahle is not a good part. Now it leaks fuel and must be replaced. Should I get different/shorter T part?

I know mate, i know. The fuel price is mad, not just in the uk, but everywhere over europe. But I’m driving a diesel as well, with an ATD engine *100ps , and sometimes I wish to drive a petrol instead.. The ARL is a correct engine, I’ve already upgraded my car with some parts from the ARL, and planning to keep going with the mods, but it will never be a petrol.. Anyway .. good luck with your ARL, and watch out for “chocolate cam problem”.As I know this is the most common prob with the ARL engines

Had the Golf TDI 150 since August, the VR6 did go shortly after sadly, the costs of fuel in UK and mileage meant had to go diesel route, still I went for the top of the line 150 model and its pretty darn quick for a diesel, only downside is I miss the sound of the VR6 engine you don’t need a stereo when you have a VR 😀

And bam, the old filter magically comes out, then the new one magically goes into its place..
You have told us everything, but the most important is still magic.

Mine did smoke a little at the start. I actually expected it to be a lot more.

Nice tutorial, I’m selling my VR6 to buy a MIV TDi :D

RodriguezInnovations says:

That seafoam may not be very effective due to the application method. You filled the fuel filter with it which was nice, but as soon as the car starts and the fuel starts pumping from the lift tank I believe almost all of the seafoam will end up back in the fuel tank, diluted.

Also, once I get the car, I’ll sign up to an online VW community and share your videos.
