Yo Chris I have the body off my 60 rag. I need body patches, not whole
sections … same kind of sections you showed. I’ve had a hard time
finding them. Who do you recommend? I can’t afford the real expensive
dude … kapp something. I chill in the right lane at 60-65 and only one
asshole out of a hundred people barrel down my deck … tools.
Ah man thanks!
Nice work Chris. Will love to see the new channels going in again in future
uploads if you’re planning that. Thanks for spending the time showing us
how you do these things, always a pleasure. Regards, Ian, UK
hey Chris, most youtube channels do giveaways, i am still waiting for a
restored classic beetle giveaway from you :P!
Thanks Chris for this video very helpful
Excellent. Have just finished work and will settle down to this after my
shower. Can’t wait. Really enjoyed part 1
Thanks Chris, I live my dreams through your videos. Ron from Binghamton NY
Using a torch like that works great if your replacing the lower wheel well
and the lower rear quarter like you said, but if your not replacing those
panels I wouldn’t use a torch cause the heat will warp the panel and it’s
kind of sloppy, but that’s just my 2 cents haha. Thanks for the video.
Yep I normally do, but my welder wanted to play with the torch, he has fun.
I bought a 1963 vw beetle, the previous owner cut both heater channels out
on both the dr and ps side of the car. JC Whitney use to sell them but i
contacted them recently and they don’t sell vw parts anymore. Do you know a
good company that sells heater channels? also are they like rocker panels
and have inner and outer channels or is it one piece per side? thanks
Yes I will have the later uploads with the new channels going in.
You kept mentioning other ways to do it…heat would be an issue, would a
plasma cutter also be good alternative if it did not heat up an area and
warp? way back when I did my beetle I was a teen and didn’t brace the doors
so this is all info for a possible future build.
it would have been quicker with a angle grinder with a cutting blade…use
a lot less acetylene gas : )
As long as it does not get too hot where it would warp, you should be ok.
But I still think a grinder tool with the cutting wheel on it is best.
hahaha, yeah what are they giving away? T-shirts? =o)
