my shifter bushing was recently replaced by my mechanic a few months ago,
but shifting into 1st gear is still sometimes a chore. It shifts fine into
2nd, 3rd, and 4th, but 1st gear is not as smooth as it should be even
though the bushing is new. BTW, my mechanic knows what he’d doing. He’s
been working on vw’s for the past 50 years. Plus there’s a bit of a shutter
or vibration sometimes when i accelerate from 1st gear. My mechanic told
me that if my clutch was going bad, it would begin to slip, but the
vibration has been going on for a year now & the clutch is still working. I
know a clutch will sometimes let off a burning odor if it’s going bad, but
there is no smell. Is the vibration or shuttering the clutch slipping??
