The exhaust pipe from the catalytic converter on my VW Golf had rusted through and was leaking exhaust gases. I was quoted hundreds of pounds for a new cat but found a local garage that were able to repair it with a new piece of stainless steel pipe and weld it on to the catalyst to fix it.

Exactly my problem. So, how is the welding into the catalytic convertor holding up?
