Patrick Francis says:

Great video, just ordered the filter today, but do you have any special advice about getting to that area of the car in the passenger footwell (the bit before the video starts) is it easy to remove the foam cover? Thanks

filterheads says:

The cabin filter is used to filter the air that enters the cabin through the engine compartment. If you have a cabin filter installed it keeps dust and pollen from coming through the system and entering the cabin for you to breathe in.

Botello Jorge says:

What’s the cabin filter use for

filterheads says:

You’re welcome!

Great vid guys! Helps a lot. I just placed my order today.

filterheads says:

No, the A/C filter is different from the A/C lines.

The876London says:

is the air conditioner filter, the same as the air conditioner lines?????

I was told I need new air conditioning lines, for my VW PASSAT GLX V6.

But I don’t know what it actually is, or how much it would cost?

Pilingui2470 says:

Thank you very much for your advise :}

filterheads says:

Your filter is located under the hood, and takes the AQ1008C filter. We have a video of your procedure at /watch?v=dox_X1TCWxc , or search AQ1008C.

Pilingui2470 says:

Thank you for the video is really good. My passat is 2005 is the filter in the same location ???? Again thanks:)

filterheads says:

We know it will!

nalani40 says:

Thank you. I showed the video to my hubby and now he can change the filter and hopefully the car will smell fresh!

GTI6speed says:

I don’t know why but ever since I changed the filter, I get a fluttery/whistling sound whenever my air is on 1 or 2. Any suggestions?

David Cordts says:

Neither, I simply changed the filter as directed and the smell was immediately eliminated. 3 months – still fresh. BTW when I opened the vent cover and removed the old filter, all sorts of debris (pine needles, leaves, etc) fell out.

hi i have a 2000 passat where is my air fillter?

Gracie2061 says:

Hi i have a vw passat estate 2010 mine is a right hand drive is the air filter on the passanger side or is it on the drivers side.

David Cordts says:

I changed the filter…took me only 5 minutes. Wiped out the ducts as I could reach with a disinfectant. No odor at all. Don’t know why I procrastinated so long! Thanks

filterheads says:

normally just changing the cabin air filter will do away with any bad smells you may be experiencing. If after you change the filter it still has some residual smell to it, cleaning your ducts couldn’t hurt!

David Cordts says:

I have a musty/mildew smell when the AC is on. Do I need to spray or clean the ducts in any way in addition to changing the filter?

djjoep100 says:

OK thank you i change my cabin filter today it was so easy. and i did my spark plugs and air filter… my car the 2006 vw jetta only has 29000 thousand mil on it but i like to do my spark plugs ever year and my air filter when i do my oil change. but i never change my cabin filter it was so dirty .i am so happy that i did. now i will change it every 6 months my cabin filter. i have a DVD service repair manual for my 2006 4 door vw jetta and i could not find the cabin filter on the dvd thank u

filterheads says:

Hey Joe. Your 06 Jetta uses the same AQ1009 filter and installation procedure. Your Jetta may however have a foam panel underneath the glove box that must be removed to get to the housing. It should have two plastic screws that hold the panel on. If your vehicle has that panel them removing it is the only extra step.

djjoep100 says:

i have a 2006 vw jetta is the cabin air filter in the same spot? i know how to do my spark plugs and air filter myself. lol but i never did my cabin filter . thank you from Joe
