same here on my 02 Corolla (E110).
My 99 has the same problem on the right side.
We need to get the Stabilizer bar replaced in our 1998 Corolla. Does it
need an alignment once it is replaced? VERY annoying noise I must say
Makes me wonder if this has anything to do with my 2004 Nissan Frontier 4×4
clicking when turning heavy left, but not right and gradually less and less
turning is required for the clicking. Making doing a U turn unpleasant.
@Franksta100 Way to go! Good work!
@kaoboj You’re welcome man!
@Franksta100 Ya you’re welcome man.
NEVER, EVER GET INTO A CAR WITHOUT JACK STANDS, I BEEN WORKING ON CARS FOR
NEARLY 35 YEARS AND I HAVE HAD SOME CLOSE CALLS JUST FOR BEING LAZY AND
GOING TO GET SOME JACK STANDS A FEW FEET AWAY. COROLLA RIDE LOW, THE CAR
WOULD CRUSHED YOU. SAFETY ALWAYS COMES FIRST. ALWAYS
Under? You have the car lifted with a jack and no jack stands, best of luck
to you. Just some advice on safety. Take it for whatever its worth.
You said, “never get into a car”. Good advice just swap the word into with
under.
@briansmobile1 Oh I subbed about a month or so ago. 🙂 Keep up the goodness.
Thank you by the way!!!
Your videos rock!
You’re welcome good sir!
I love your videos man, not too long and straight to the point.
stabiliser bar links*
@DirTyOhGee Heck ya man! Will do!
@prodriver1 Thanks ; )
I have been hearing a clunking noise on the passenger side, specifically
when going over bumps. I now have a list of things to check out, including
this one. I have a 2000 toyota celica.
@sdmike2 You bet.
@Loskino13 It could be stabilizer bar end links, struts, or control arms.
thanks, cars are money pit lol
what would cause a clunking noise in the rear? I changed the stabiliser
bars (dog bones) and the struts and it still does it on the passenger side.
and help would be great. thanks
Sway bar end link or struts.
@ssssszszsssss Thanks ; )
My 99 Corolla is making a creaking noise from the left front. Me and one of
my co-workers inspected it and believe the sway bar bushings have failed
becuse it’s polyurathane rubber and over time it gets hard and the bar is
not able to move without makeing nosie. Also vehicles are know for the
stabilzer bars to go bad. I purchased a set from Autozone and they are 50%
larger then the orginals from the factory.
@DirTyOhGee Thanks! Subscribe for more!
@briansmobile1 I know this is a year old, but thanks for pointing me in the
right direction.
Awesome!! Thanks. I have the same car and it was driving me nuts. I was
convinced the brake pads were rattling, but no it is the sway bar.
@briansmobile1 Turned out to be my strut mount; just in case anyone is
hearing a clunking sound when going over bumps ONLY. Although, it could
have been just the strut nut that was loose and needed tightening. Either
way, I changed the strut mount and it fixed the problem!!! 😀
*UNDER ??
Take out the stabilizer link on the side you hear the noise and see what
happens. no noise, than you know its the stabilizer links. I was writing a
response while the video was playing, Buy the stabilizer bar bushings at
Rock Auto. $5.67 for two. Get the Moogs. they have great quality and come
with a warranty,. Very easy to fix. Spent more time on the video (wink). By
the way. it can be the bar or the links, they make similar noises. I know
from experience.
I get a clunking sound when I go over bumps on my 95 accord. I hear it over
big bumps and smaller bumps even when I slow down before the impact. It
gets bad when I got over trolley tracks those are the worst. I don’t know
what it can be, I’m hoping its an easy fix. I dont really know much about
mechanical work so any of your help would be extremely appreciated.. Please
respond….
i have a squeaking in my honda accord on the front left side every time run
over a speed bump. any ideas?
thanks for the insight! sway bar was the culprit on my 1998 audi a4 as
well.
@Goregoon You’re right- I pulled them out and was ready to put it down and
thought I’d vid it real quick. My bad! I know better. I’ve had several jack
failures onto stands enough to oughta know better. = )
What the hell are you doing under there with only a jack for support?
Remind me to smack you about the side of the head next time I’m in the
neighborhood. You know better then that dude! I found the BEST way to fix
those Corollas when they make that noise is to take them to your nearest
auto wrecking yard and have them crushed. They tend to quite down
considerably after that. LoL
it was the same with on my friends 2001 vw jetta, it turned out to be
bushings on the stabilizers
Sway bar links on my 98 Corolla were worn out and made that same noise.
Changed them and the noise went away. Then it came back. Shook the
passenger side link and it was loose, I thought got to take them back to
Advance Auto Parts and of course had no receipt. On the off chance the nuts
were loose I snugged them and got a fairly easy 1/8 turn on them, tightened
to no slop. Drove the car and no noise. I think they worked loose after the
first drive and needed a retorque like new head gaskets do.
Final the rear front contol arms which is simply a bar on the rear
susension are know to fail as well espically the Camry’s from the early
90’s that have the same set up. The rear will make a banging nosie and the
casue is due to the bushings on the front control arm/bar busing go bad
which make the nosie. It happen to one of my other co-workers at work with
His 1992 Camry Wagon which has over 262,000 miles and still going.
I put used struts (140KM) on my Honda (260KM), but on bumps still clunk
noise stay. Apparently anti sway bar look fine, while mechanic already
replaced rear sway bar linkage that were broken and but he did not
recognized anti sway bar bushing already worn due to this issue. After
watch video I realized and found the bushing were not broken but hard
enough to be loosed/wearied (shinny). After replacing all bushing 70% on
bump, cluck nose gone. thanks
