how many miles do you have now ? does it burn oil?

John Lafferty says:

Great instructions! Changed my oil and filter with ease. Thank you!

mark p says:

Don’t you think it would make better sense to just go ahead and buy the
drain plug gasket for a dollar and replace that too so you avoid losing the
5 dollars a quart oil? Why not replace the o ring on the housing? It came
with the filter.

Cecil Sahai says:

Kris, Thanks for the Video. I did not know how to access the filter. You
answered my question.. Question for you– Why do they tighten the oil drain
lug so tight, the intent is to seal it ONLY. Again great job, and thanks on
the tips to protect the environment each of us can help. ( when you do not
how to do it this video is easier than reading the manual) Cecil.

Alexander Velasco says:

Really helpful video on this subject. Never changed oil on my Toyota Camry
and was surprise to see the oil filter was different than the standard oil
filter that i’m used to seeing. Learning about the oil remover tool,
saved me a lot of frustration.
Thanks
Alex

phil tripe says:

I don’t have that fancy wrench nor was I about to buy one so I just used a
38ths inch extension on a ratchet and if that didn’t work I was going to
put a rag to pad it against my giant channel lock pliers…thanx for the
video , I had no idea it was a cartridge system oil filter and couldn’t
find it!,lol

Joseph Smith says:

How much quarts did that car take?

Linda Coffman says:

Thank you so much for this video! I recently separated from my husband and
am learning a whole new world, especially where car maintenance is
concerned. A friend of mine will be doing the oil change on my car, but I
will be watching and learning.

tpokeeffe says:

A 6 point box end wrench works well for some tightly held fasteners but if
you are rounding off your oil drain plug with a 12 point you are going to
have bigger issues than a rounded drain plug head. There are many
stripped by novices working at the lube shop. One of the most difficult
parts of training someone who has no experience with working on cars is how
to properly tighten down bolts.

joe vanvalkenburg says:

not changing the o rings is asking for catstrofic engine damage please
don’t do what this guy shows

Ammar Kurdy says:

gr8 work
thanx

Steve Bielenda says:

good video, thanks showing how you tighten the filter housing would have
helped someone understand how tight you made it, just snug snug and not
over tightened

tallyman15 says:

Great job. Short and sweet.

emasart says:

Can you tell me the specs of the wrench I need to remove the filter
please???

8301PC says:

Good video Kris. I did the 1st oil change on my new 13 Camry 4 cyl.
yesterday and found it to be the easiest oil/ filter change that I have
done- quick, least messy and easiest access to all parts. I bought the same
filter cap you have from amazon (along with a new Toyota OEM filter) and it
made the process a breeze. I very much like and appreciate how there are no
parts or pieces under the filter for oil to drip on to like just about
every other car I have owned and changed the oil on; thus no Brake Clean
needed. I wish more car makers would follow this.

Stephen .Campbell says:

Thanks for your advice and directions. I didn’t have a socket big enough
to fit over the knob at the end of the filter. So I tried to use square
end of the wrench that fits into the socket. (The auto parts clerk told me
I could use it instead of using a socket.) Problem was that I couldn’t
turn the socket wrench in the tight space underneath the filter. So I
borrow my neighbor’s socket wrench that had a swivel socket connection.
Next problem was that the filter was screwed on so tight that I could
budge it. So I put a pipe at the end of the wrench and was finally able to
loosen the filter. I plan on getting a socket big enough fit around the
knob of the filter.

SuperDeluxe80 says:

if your plug is rounded just use some vicegrips and buy a new plug

Jimmy Jones says:

Nicely done. This is much more difficult than the old spin on filters;
presumably to discourage owners from doing it themselves.

dj88ster47 says:

It was helpful and will watch others when needed.

pizzajoes2156 says:

Is that filter cap wrench a 64mm with 14 flats?

Kris Kasprzak says:

because accurding to the owners manual, any other oil must be changed at 5K
miles, the car won’t know the type so it reminds you every 5K.Otherwise you
could risk 10K on less optimal oil.

SirtubalotTX says:

Excellent video, thank you!

Bob Snake Plissken says:

I just got a 2011 Camry and this will surely come in handy since I do my
own oil changes. Very clearly and thoroughly done. Thanks Kris!

tim allen says:

what is poor mpg for you?Example if the car is rated at 22 and your getting
18 or 10 there’s many reason depending on what you call poor.

Huagang Chen says:

Does this also work with a 2010 Camry? You did not cover the small black
ring. Where it supposed to go. Thanks. Very good video instruction.

London Davis says:

what is that special tool that you used to romove the oil canister when
changing oil on Toyota camry 2010?. where can I find one?. Pete

Benjhoang says:

where can i buy that special filter remover.

Edgar Garcia says:

Well done thank you. This is exactly the vid. instruction I was looking for.

richbf2 says:

There are several points I would like to share from my own experience: You
can also purchase oil filter wrench part#25405 (save a few $). Before
removing oil cartridge completely, it’s better to drain oil out by using
drained plug comes w/ filter. It’s less messy. Lastly, one can use 5w20
syn.as alternative as it states in manual (gas mileage does not suffer
much) Again, thanks for ur very informative video.

Billy Mitchell says:

Thank you, This video helped me a lot. Especially familiarizing me with
this canister type oil filter. I bought the canister filter wrench on
Amazon I put AST 640 in the search to find the Toyota Canister Wrench.
Thank you again.

Kris Kasprzak says:

I bought mine online. Not sure where. but google it. Autozone sells them,
Part Number: 25412

Anthony Reese says:

Very informative . This is my first oil change on my new Toyota and I was
wondering how to get the oil filter housing off. Thanks

tim allen says:

technically you dont. The o ring doesn’t get much pressure so he might say
he will replace it every other time or more depends on the him.But on my
car i would if your getting it w/the filter and your already there you
should replace it’s not hard.

Kelis Enjoli says:

great video i just could not locate the old oil filter . This was very
helpful. Explaination was easy to follow Thanks a million

john1240able says:

How often do you change your oil on your 2011 camry.

JayzBeerz says:

I hope all new cars don’t come with this type filter. I’m gonna miss the
full flow spin on filters if this happens.
