This is How Car Repair Shops Get Bad Reputations! Routine Maintenance Turns Into Major Surgery

In This Video I share with you why some car repair shops get bad reputations. What started as a routine and simple timing belt job turned into a multi hour major surgery to this engine because of malpractice from a shop that did this maintenance before!

This infuriates every mechanic and shop owner! We work very hard to do right by people and do quality work. Then come some mechanics that just make it all go away! This makes me sad!

This beautiful 1999 Toyota Camry V6 wasn’t maintained as it should using the usual cheap quality parts and “over maintained” unnecessarily.

Folks be careful with mechanics and shops. You need to trust your car mechanic. if you don’t, it’s a mistake to continue using them. Ask them to show you things, Ask them to show you the new parts and old parts. No good mechanic gets upset if you ask for your old parts back. It is my pleasure to show you your old parts back and better yet show you anything before we start the job so you are well informed and fully understand why every job costs what it does.

Are "Commie" parts a major factor with this?

Some advice, your videos are very informative but after watching a few, the videos can be cut down to 10 min or less when just going straight to the point. Just like Scotty Kilmer.

One that made me say out loud "wtf are you doing?"
He takes a battery operated impact gun and puts the new spark plugs back in. I must be getting to old for this chit.

Get the best Accountant you can afford.
If they show up at your door with their clipboard and official seal on the side of the vehicle door you'll need $30,000 – $100,000 to rectify " The problem they've found *
Your Accountant will most likely advise you to just write the check out to them… it'll be cheaper in the long run. Or you can pay your accountant $300.
Plus Per hour to fight it and still lose.

I would love to see a video on how to change the spark plugs in the 2021 V6 Tacoma. It kind of intimidates me LOL

Jim S says:

What is your opinion of the 22re and 1FZ engines?

Rozco99 says:

If that car had never had a timing belt job done before it would’ve been in better shape than you found it.

Mr Plum says:

Hello.
I don't know the right way to contact you, to ask a TPMS related question – at a 2005 Sienna?
I will pay as much as you want for your time.
You can answer when you have time.
Pls. advise.

Mr Man says:

Thats the difference between a mechanic and a Shade Tree JB weld and duct tape guy.

Dan Hoang says:

Nothing worst than fixing other people's sloppy jobs. You sure are a perfectionist and a good person.

Account NumberEight says:

The shop I used to use boasted of using "quality parts" but in reality they went for the cheapest Chinese crap they could find. Then they marked up those parts by 100% or even more. Even when they did use a semi-decent part like from NAPA, they would take a $100 dollar item and charge me $200 for just the part itself. They used tap water in the cooling system. They put a cheap Chinese evap core in the dash which failed in just a few years (but hey at least it had a Toyota expansion valve! go figure that one…). At least now I found a place that uses Toyota OEM parts (and there is a big difference between them and the aftermarket crap). When people use the word "MOOG" or "Doorman" and "quality" in the same sentence, don't walk… RUN away.
