I hate my civic so much
Maybe it's just me but I've owned both Honda and Toyota and it SEEMS the Toyota A/C is colder and takes less time to cool the car down. Being as I live in one of the hottest cities in America, that's quite important to me so I've gone Toyota. Maybe things have changed recently but all my Hondas had weak A/C (civic vs. camry). Is there a place to check A/C ratings? Anyone else sense (or know for a fact) that Toyota A/C in their cars are "better" than Honda?
I had an '06 Civic that had 164k (100k done by me within a few years) before I totaled it. That thing did not have a single issue, ever. If I wouldn't have been young and dumb I might have opted to repair and enjoy it for years without a payment instead of using the insurance money for a Challenger. Live and learn.
Mr. Mazda Skyactiv might have something to say about that.
Parents had a 2010 M3 (not "Skyactiv" at the time). Had almost 80k miles when they sold it in 2018. The only big repairs were a front rotor job and an AC clutch replacement (and yes, it did have the Ford-sourced 5-speed automatic in it).
Our family has owned 6 Toyotas and 3 Mazdas over the years, and so far the Mazdas have proven to be at least as reliable as Toyotas.
Fun fact: The major problems (3 half-shaft replacements, bad fuel pump, bad alternator, bad flyfheel ring-gear, broken strut spring, worn clutch) were all on the TOYOTAS,
Don't forget the Mazda 3 … 2014 and newer. Mazda split off from Ford and began making everything themselves.
Mazda would be my choice over a Honda

Those Honda 1.5 turbo engines dilute oil. They might be zippy but I'd rather have the 2.4 n/a 4 banger out of the Camry or the n/a 2.0 out of the Corolla
