New Toyota Problem I've Never Seen Before! More LS430 Goodness!

New Toyota Problem I've Never Seen Before! More LS430 Goodness!

I share with you a New Toyota problem that I’ve never seen before in my long career as a Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician.

Power steering fluid in Toyota and Lexus Products don’t really have an interval of replacement recommend. However you want to regularly check the fluid and when you notice it getting darker, do replace it.

If you ever notice staining of the power steering reservoir change the fluid immediately and attempt to replace it again after a short time to clear any debris.

This otherwise perfectly working power steering pump in this 2004 Lexus LS430 suddenly started whining and completely stopped working because of the clogged screen in the reservoir that no matter what we did, it won’t clear up requiring the replacement of the power steering pump and reservoir.

Another question! Can you post a link for that head unit?? I have a similar model that is designed for my 09 Camry but that interface looks newer. Maybe a newer version of Android! can you post a link of where I might search?

I tried to find your video on cleaning sunroof drains on 2008 to 2013 Highlander, I remember watching it and I was trying to revisit it but have no idea what video it is on. Other people on line are using drain cleaner wires, compressed air, some people have had the dealership clean them and were still plugged! It would be good if you could have specifically shown the Highlander on your fall maintenance roof and cowl drains? Thank you for what you do!

Caleb Sandersier says:

I use Dextron ATF as it says to on the cap of my reservoir. And mine looks similar to that one. And I have a 2009 Camry. Should I be using actual power steering fluid?

Joseph Juguilon says:

Could you do a video how to change the reservoir? I believe when u take the old one off, you’ll introduce air onto system… how do we bleed it?

martin zendejas says:

2006 owner here. The only issue I’ve had was the right taillight going out ($650 at the dealer), hood and trunk struts, thermostat, and a headlight going out. Other than that it has been great and I was able to fix everything myself minus the taillight.
