How do you check a 2.4L 2AZ-FE engine for excessive oil burning, or general health? Thanks!

Aaron says:

I've got an 06 Tundra that clunks when I pull up to a red light. cant figure it out if it's UJ joints or lower control bearings. What's the best way to tell?

Christopher Penovatz says:

That FJs plate is just hilarious!

Nathan Snir says:

No major issues in Toyota? What about the following:

Head valves failure, sludge in the engine, cracking plastic manifold, single clutch robotic gearbox, upholstery wear and tear etc. in Corola?

Steering problems, rear suspension problems etc. in Avansis

Front suspension collapse in Land Cruiser Prado, Gear box knocks in Land Cruiser 120, Dashboard cracking in Land Cruiser 150 etc.

Brakes failure in Hilux, Chassis rot in Toyota Takoma etc.

I can go on and on. The only thing Toyota excel at is concealing their failure until they are caught red handed like the issue with the brakes.

Don’t mislead people to believe Toyota have no issues, they have major issues. They are poorly engineering and everything is built on the edge so it lasts the warranty.

samuel lopes says:

my dad has a 2005 Sienna with 485,XXX miles and it runs like a champ. I've been using it lately to carry around tools..

Boilerroom Ed says:

I'm thinking the TITLE CHECK needs to go first! Why do all the mechanical look around and THEN find out….

Ronald says:

People get ready indeed.

Hummin Along says:

Early 2000's 3MZ FE P2112 code that's a nightmare to deal with.

marty espin says:

I don’t think mismatch tires are a big issues. My 2019 had all 4 matching tires at about 60% when one tire was punctured by a piece of rebar . When to the tire shop and they had a used tire different brand but was the same DOT year and same tire thread. I don’t see the point of buying new tires if one is bad .

Lindsay Green says:

I did it wizard. I resisted the temptation to buy a non toyota and bought a Tacoma with 60,000 miles. All I could think of is the many times you said go for it. Dont go cheap and end up with junk. Thank you.

Oh yeah, forget buying a toyota, the chassis is in dangerously rusted condition, if it's over 8 years old.

theylied1776 says:

With your Toyota serpentine belt, if you want the OEM belt without paying the dealership price. Bando is the belt supplier for Toyota.

I bought a bando belt for my Toyota at Napa, it was about $13. And the Toyota dealership wanted $58 for the exact same belt.

Lousybarber says:

The last used vehicle I bought four years ago had an accident on its record. It was an old person's car with low miles and good service records. After doing some research I learned the body repairs were cosmetic, there was no frame damage. One of those mishaps where someone rubbed up against the garage door frame. The only issue is some wind noise from the passenger side mirror which was replaced. It was a bit of a gamble but the car has be very reliable. It it would have been a flood or frame damaged vehicle I would have walked away.

Keith Hults says:

I own a 1998 no rust Sienna going on 7yrs. 3.0 engines that age require the top covers re-gasketed. The control arms and ball joints take all the pressure of acceleration and braking. MOOG control arm ball joint assemblies last about 35k-40k. If the timing belt snaps, the 3.0 is NOT AN INTERFERENCE ENGINE! I do all the mechanics myself! I require 1 scan tool to diagnose the drivetrain. A Sienna is nothing but a Camery with a minivan body. There are thousands of 1997-2003 Camery and Sienna vehicles still on the roads today. The 2.4 engines came with cheap rings, and burn oil from 2005-2007 I believe. Google Toyota 2.4 engines burning oil, and the exact years will appear.

Shawn Phillips says:

I have owned so many Toyotas I've just about lost count 45 I believe is the number, most have been Tacoma's/trucks I have an Avalon love that thing but I lend it out to family
and friends when there car is "broke down" so sadly I don't have it often. So in conclusion I tell them find a nice toyota and get rid of the headache so I can have my car back!!!

Brandon Hudson says:

I like the shoes wizard

Nicholas Hall says:

Also when in accessory mode make sure the check engine lights up. It should. If it doesn’t the light may have been removed and the owner is trying to hide an issue

Jeffrey Miller says:

How many miles did your FJ have when you bought it?

daredevildaryl says:

But why are you not wearing your seatbelt. SAFETY FIRST !!
