Wow. He didnt even install the battery vent tube in his BMW 525i it safely routes potentially explosive and corrosive hydrogen gases out of the enclosed trunk. Always connect this tube to the battery's vent port, and cap the opposite port if your replacement battery has two.

Cost about $150. Oh yeah, for a 5 minute work. OK, let say the are slacking, 10 minutes.

Does this work in F10/F11?
If you do this then your new batter may be overcharging . The reason for registration for a new battery is because as the old battery drops in voltage the alternator has a sensor wich begins to charge at a higher rate to keep sensitive system sesors fuctioning properly. The system connot recognize that a new batter was installed so it continues to sent the higher charge. Registering the battery clears the sensor and allows it to charge normaly again. I would check you output on you alternator to make you you dont burn out some spendy sensors or you battery. I only know this from being a bmw motorcyce nut and had to realy start learning the german egineering from a fresh stand point. Good luck! Cool. Fix for sure!!!
Wow that's really good to know thanks man. I replaced the battery myself on mine about 2 years ago and surprisingly that registration issue didn't show up for me. I don't know why and definitely not complaining about that lol. Maybe the previous owner had already disconnected that wire. But ya the dealership quoted me about 1k to register and replace the battery haha, which of course is rediculous.

my 2011 bmw 535i literally shut off engine while I was inside a car wash bay. Couldn't restart it, had to tow it back to my house. I decided to take the battery out and recharge it in my garage. Put battery back in, now the car won't even turn on, its as if the battery doesn't even exist.
You absolutely have to register it and reset it in the newer BMW‘s 2020 up. That way when you register you’re letting your BMW know it has a new battery in it. It can wreck havoc in your electrical system. If you don’t a new battery tells your car it doesn’t have to use so much power.
It will shorten the life of the battery
Manufacturers don't want you fixing your own car, the one you shelled out 000's to buy. It's all part of the substance of the consumer right-to-repair legislation we hope will get approved, all over the world. Very annoying and unnecessary. Good video.

Computer did not know what is going on with your battery . Either its old or new .
Its going to over charge new battery and reduce life of this battery to very short time .

Could you tell me what the 1st symbol means, please. I've started seeing this every time I start my car for a few seconds and then it disappears. I'm trying to figure out why it does this. Stop paying all this money to buy new BMW batteries and just recondition your battery and it will fully charge your battery as if its brand new.
Take that battery out of your car and recondition it and just repeat the process and you will never ever have to go buy another battery ever again! Upon you reconditioning your battery if your battery needs fluids add distilled water slightly to the top of the battery not to the rim but just a few inches below the rim.
Then take those black top pieces off of the top of your battery and open them up, some of them are circles, some batteries are square where you want to add distilled water, start charging that battery 145-200amp for every 10-15 minutes, and let it sit for an hour, then do it again and again, do it 5 times all together. Just make sure the acid is bubbling inside your battery cause when it's doing that bubbling really nice, then it's putting a good charge on the cells and reconditioning those dead cells in that battery making it brand new. When you repeated this 5 times. Put a battery tester on it and check the power to see it it's full charged. Then you are good to go with.
Brother, you are killing your new battery, the car will chew through it if it handles it like an old battery.
Old batteries are worn out, so they need to be treated rugh, a fresh one is sensitive and will be treated as such. Registration decives are like $50 and any mechanic that has a similar car to yours in the area will register yours for a pack of beer or a tip.
Probably wont respond but im looking at a 325i and the seller has the new battery installed with the negative terminal disconnected and the blue wire disconnected, but she still said it needs to be registered

In 2025, Costco equal replacement battery with 3 yr warranty was $279, 302 with tax. I’m in TX, BMW dealer quote for replace/register was $570, so this lady saved herself $270, with do it yourself YouTube videos. Thanks YT!
