Jorge Lopez says:

Greetings CCN family. I am the owner of this car. I had the privilege to meet AMD in person for the 2nd time during this video shoot. He is a great and awesome human being. What you see on camera is what you get in person. I was astounded by his ability to begin filming without any scripts or rehearsals. He truly speaks with his heart and soul. GOD bless him and his family always. I hope many of you one day will have the privilege of meeting AMD. Well, I purchased this car with 187K as an emergency use because my transmission went out on my dodge grand caravan in 2016. The car drove extremely well for what I paid for it and EVERYTHING worked in it so I told my self, just keep running it until the wheels come off and the years just went on. Here we are 50K later at 237K and rising daily. I have owned many used GM and Chrysler vehicles over my lifetime and sadly most of them ended up becoming money pits even though I performed the majority of the repairs at that time. It does help a great deal that I am technically and mechanically inclined. IMO a vehicle is not an investment (Except for sought after collectables) but given what I spent in parts/repairs over the years, this one seems like an investment to me. I definitely got my money's worth multiple times. Treat and take care of your vehicle like an investment and it will take care of you.

Low mileage for an old car

I have a `95 camry with 160k on it 4cyl made in Japan not here with a 5sp manual………..GOLD can`t get that color anymore because …………people are dead inside these days !

Dave S says:

AMD and Jorge – thank you for sharing an EXCELLENT example of what car CARE can do. We purchased a 2007 Camry for our son 5 years ago and I’ve been doing some of the maintenance and repairs. I am amazed how well the car has resisted the Upstate NY salt; and more than once I’ve stopped at the car, patted the fender and said ‘thanks for taking care of my son’. Well cared for, a vehicle does meet many of the needs we have in todays life.
Thank you for sharing.

Kendric says:

Jorge seems like a great guy. Just want to say your content has helped me so much this past year. I've gained a better understanding on how to cherish and maintain my car. There's so much I didn't realize I was missing out on.

Lester Parker says:

Father in law has a 2000 Camry with 430k. He’s replaced a bunch of parts but still original engine and trans

Branson Home says:

Do you work on Honda Odyssey’s?

rnt45t1 says:

Finally, a car review for something I can afford!

EL PUERCO says:

I don't know what you saw but I only noticed seepage which is less serious than a leak, IMHO.
Very impressive even more so!

Zach Travers says:

The 1MZ-FE V6 in this car will outlive us all if maintained. Timing Belts, WPs, and full synthetic oil will let that engine run forever. This is the height of Camry quality and reliability.

Ronit Prasad says:

Hy. Big fan of this channel. Im from fiji. I own two of them. One is daily other for parts. Xv10 97 model. Ausi spec. Has a 3vz-fe engine and auto tranny. Has 270k kilometers on it. 1st owner kept it well maintained mechanical wise. 4 years of owning this car now. Runs well. Regular oil changes at 8k kilometers. Tbh engine and tranny has never been touched. Had minor leaks and was fixed. It was a gr8 decision to buy this car. I really dont know much about 1mz-fe but i do know they were similar to 3vz-fe but much lighter and fuel efficient. Every car old/new will have a set of common issues but I believe if you do proper maintenance it can last long regardless its new or old. This camry was my childhood dream car though. By end of this year I'm getting a 2021 camry 4cyl. It would be cool to see 1st gen and 8th gen parked side by side in my garage.

Randy Duncan says:

What a great video. I saw the long pause of reflection when you began thinking of days from long ago. With the direction the US seems to be headed it might be helpful to have things that are good, reliable, and well taken care of. Like a old but good Toyota.

Tom Alexander says:

The 3rd generation Camry is reputed to be the pinnacle of Camry quality. It was designed for production before the epic 1989 Japanese super recession started. Afterwards, they engaged in decontenting, or cutting corners here and there as a result of the severe belt tightening that the recession brought.

I had a 4th gen, almost as good quality-wise which also had the separate transmission differential reservoir. A garage owner did not believe me when I told him it had two separate reservoirs. Even the Corolla had this "feature ".

Mr Pz says:

It's got so little miles! Mine had 300k.

V1Rotate says:

I have family in Chicago and visit quite frequently. It would be an honor to take you to lunch to pick your brain. Love your videos

Asis Rai says:

Hi AMD. I'm gonna buy a Toyota. I wanna get the Toyota Extra care. Should I buy it right away with the car or should I wait for 3 yrs/ 36k and then buy it.

Abyssalsoul621 says:

I have a spread sheet of every repair and maintenance done on my 2006 Toyota Sienna from day one. It has 197k miles on it now and drives like new. I believe in preventative maintenance and I am happy to see there is someone else as nutty about vehicles as I am .

Onterrio Redmon says:

My first car was a 94 Camry I loved that car ppl thought it was brand new because I took care of it

Frank Biz says:

Thanks for sharing his story and seeing the car. Sadly many people don't take care of their cars and wonder why they don't last. Those that can't afford to get a new car every 3 years need to take care of what they have.

rhpham2 says:

The owner is pretty cool guy and does his best even though some of his methods are questionable. I owned my 99 Avalon starting back in 2004 and still have it today. It has been with me from me in my college days acting like one of those teenage drivers thrashing the gas pedals to now me in my late 30s where I baby the transmission. Lucky I’m also very hands on and a frugal guy as I still driving it 60 miles day for work in Houston traffic. My 1mzfe has 353k miles currently and still going strong. They don’t make them like they use to like you said.

TheBenjammin5150 says:

I have an 08 kia rio5 w/5 speed manual. Bought it for $500 from an older guy that stopped driving and took good care of it. It has 99,000 miles. Manual windows and door locks, no ABS or cruise control, it does have AC though. People think I'm crazy but to me it's the perfect car..reliable engine, economical to drive, cheap and easy to work on. Not a lot of modern tech to go wrong. I will get many more miles out of it.

spedison _ says:

great video as always! i have an '02 solara 1mz 5 speed that i picked up 18 months ago and have restored her back to great shape! she has 231k on her and runs fantastic. if you ever want to review it let me know

Darlene Grant says:

I disagree with you about scrapping this car as it falls apart. Not only would it be fun to keep it going but it will become historical And it’s definitely cheaper to Drive this rather than buy a new car

Ruben Leal says:

$1200? That's less than what I spend in tires alone in 4 years.

Brad Yakubovic says:

I have a 2000 Corolla, bought brand new, 390,000 kms on it. Still runs great.
