We bought this Mechanically Totaled Porsche Panamera S for Scrap Value, and took it straight to the dealer because it was under a Recall that might just cover it’s major engine issue, and make it worth several times what we paid…

@sugs1258 says:

Unbelievable that a Porsche main dealer would leave you off with an engine that was do close to destruction.

@jslcharger says:

Looks like it`s easy to work on compared to other euro v8s

Sam, love your videos. I own a 2014 Cayenne S with the same motor. A question and comment for you. I have been told the only real weakness on these engines is the plastic glued coolant system tubes that reside under the intake. My local mechanic is recommending replacing it with aftermarket metal tubes. Any intel on that? A great project for these cars is to let the exhaust breathe a bit. Just replacing the rear muffler will make that car sound amazing. Not teenage straight pipe amazing, but grown-ass man with a V8 amazing. Thanks for the great content.

@wankersonwhisky says:

Sorry, you bought timing components off Amazon? Jesus man…

@Land_Raver says:

Fished one of these out of the water the other day. And the Hyundai that they were with. It was pretty catastrophic, but the horn going off from all the water in the trunk was the icing on the cake.

@HoUsEoFcAtS78 says:

That motor looks VERY familiar! Audi much??

@turboenterprise790 says:

wheres my guy sage

@Thickfacek says:

I don’t know man, you can skimp on part some places, but skimping on timing is scary

@treystone1993 says:

This is a good video, on so many levels.

@uriissman2393 says:

Great video and work.
Why don't you work in the barn, under the shade with access to power?
Also, what about your other cars: several 360's, Aston Martin and more?

@stevie750iL says:

To everyone slagging off the Chinese aspect of the timing chain kit……most branded parts are now made in China.

@seancasey2444 says:

2000 dollars for spark plugs what a joke.

Great work Sam. Shame on the Porsche dealer.

@oliverjantz1108 says:

The dealer tech was “green” and or super young and probably lacks even the most basic diagnostic skills!!;
The car was misfiring so he assumed it needed a tune up so he recommended spark plugs and as for the motor mounts who knows;
Seems like a “mechanic” should be able to connect the dots that a misfiring engine is going to shake even with BRAND NEW motor mounts!!;

@logun1970 says:

Getting on the ground in a pasture to work on a car makes me cringe! All I can think about is just laying on a fire ant mound I didn't notice or ground hornets nest!

@andrewmaw3345 says:

I LoL'd when you said Samezies…..

@andrewmaw3345 says:

Mechanics at these shops are legit scammers most times. They mark you up for the easiest work that makes them the largest return. Spark plugs you get charged X amount of hours and he'll prob have done in half an hour…BONUS money in his pocket. Most of the mechanics in these large shops are shady. Pad and Rotors are 90% labor cost. It's sad. LEARN to do this easy sh*t yourself.

I'd go back and ask DO you still need engine mounts? Then ask them what they think about the guides being destroyed WHEN they had the sh*t apart…PATHETIC

@talltexan4710 says:

Crazy didn’t catch that. I would call them and file a complaint with BBB about their work

@alfa_romeo55yush82 says:

That serpentine belt was upside down.

@rjkulman8990 says:

hope the chinese stuff works for you, otherwise great video, your dealer is not even worth using their diags for real parts needed, your experience and an obd are always better, and certainly cheaper, and more accurate

@Biscaynedave says:

you could grab that drain plug with pliers no ?

@stephenclemons1170 says:

One of your best videos…love it!

@alano2875 says:

Nice video and nice work! Just curious if you kept the aluminum timing cover bolts or replaced them all with steel? Aluminum fasteners…ugh. I guess it would be okay to just replace the stripped fasteners…just wondering what you decided.

@Random-dq8ew says:

Good job Sam, very nice.

@Manamon7 says:

6000k !? wtf

@brianmirras8590 says:

I work at a and running independent shop that's right on dealership bro in Sarasota Florida and we see these videos come in all the time and customers play them for me and the things they recommend when we look at it is absolutely ridiculous they are so expensive and they use these videos to make it look like it's a must-needed thing coming directly from the tech
