How Does a 15 Year Old Toyota with OVER 200k Miles Hold up? Full Inspection!

So How Does a 15 Year Old Toyota Camry with Over 200k Miles hold up the test of time and mileage? A Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician does a full inspection including diagnosis of some issues.

This 2007 Toyota Camry V6 LE was brought to me by a viewer for some issues. One issue is the engine vibration and the other issue is the check engine light which we will address in this video.

I diagnose the issue of the check engine light live, I hope DIY mechanics observe the approach of diagnosis taken in this video as it could be helpful when you diagnose your own car.

I have a 2015 4 cylinder Camry XSE. 74,000 miles. Zero issues (apart from the passenger seat heater not working–I spilled coffee on it). Should I change the transmission fluid? Should I flush the radiator?

Pau Lian says:

Hi, Bro AMD. I want to ask you about my car battery my T4R 2017 battery is 5 years in April. so I want to change the battery for my car is with ( DLI34AGMDP X2 power premium AGM 880CCA BCI group 34/68AH) battery . I live in ERIE PENNSYLVANIA cold and snowy place. so please give me any advice for that battery. good and bad for my car.

Green&Blue Productions says:

About those rules at the end… If the car does need a massive resterestion to meet those rules you have to ask is the cost woth it to you… The most important one being is the car speical in any way to you or others? It could be a rare model now, or it could be a vehicle you have a real speical memory with, Or the restoration is cheaper then a new one of that same make, model and trim. Which if you can't drive it and can't pay for a restoration if you have land you can once made safe just park it on the land and leave it or keep it in a garrage of your yours if you have space.

Lucas T says:

Beautiful car , made in Japan!!, he should replace a fix everything to oem original!!. 5000? It’s ok , he fix everything cheap way , time to pay the price.

cajunweatherman says:

Another great video AMD! Since this car has the 2grfe V6 engine I'm wondering if it had the defective engine oil coolant lines made with rubber? My 2011 Highlander with the 2GRFE 3.5L V6 had a major and almost catastrophic oil leak at 102,000 miles due to a pinhole leak in one of the rubber engine oil coolant lines. Fortunately there was no permanent damage to the engine and we now have the OEM metal pipes which will not burst. But, had my wife not noticed the low oil pressure light when it came on and immediately pulled over and turned off the car, it would have been goodbye engine! I would advise anyone with this engine in Highlanders, Siennas, Venzas, Lexus RX350 to get those rubber oil lines replaced ASAP if you have not done so already or you risk blowing up the engine as it will run out of oil!

Gsam Gale says:

Just don't buy 2GR engine cars they are junk

Carol Hillard says:

Hi AMD, got a 2002 Toyota Camry Le a few weeks ago with 169,000 miles. Car has some hesitation and other issues. Do you have time to take a look? I"m in the south suburbs.

DoYouFeelLucky? says:

Hmmm. Hood shocks are upside down.

emehlhar says:

Thanks for the informative video. I have a 96 Camry with the same dog bone mount failure. Not bad for a 26yr old model. Is it worth it to go OEM on this part? Over $100 at the local dealer. I can get a China made replacement for only $22. It probably won't last as long as the original but it's easy to change out as you showed. Please advise.

Soon fatt Lee says:

Bro. I have missed a comment on Brake fluid. My vios year 2005, in 2014 i used dot 4 brake fluid, at first it was very very good after about a year or so there is the clicking sound when the engine just started. I was worried and i read from my car manual and it said it was the activation of the ABS. So i was not worried but after about 5 years when i apply my car brake it got vibration very serious as time go by. Immediately i flushed my brake system with toyota dot 3 fluid. Now everything back to normal. I wanted to share that Never use Dot 4 brake fluid on vios.

Hi …
I always admired your uploads, filled with lots of information and multi-angular approach towards issues, with a unique gentle touch of your personality …..
I have camry 2008 2.4 ….. Which is far better in condition than above one. Its not only the car, but the owner too, he / she should be checking such vehicles periodically all around 360 + 360 degrees .. And should take measures to fix the leaks before they start dripping ..

Keep up the GuD work Bro ….. Thumbs Up

Do you have any advice for buying a Toyota for a decent price? I just got in a car accident and I’m buying my first car and I’m a broke college student. I went to the local Hyundai dealer in Elgin just outside of Chicago and they tried to swindle me with 4k of added on stuff. A $2400 drive train warranty transfer, $900 cleaning and interior warranty (which was mandatory), $400 document fee, $336 government fee, docking and handling $581 and $1500 in taxes for a $16,900 Corolla. I would’ve ended up paying $21,000 after financing for a $17,000 car.

Brian Vogt says:

It's good having an OCD mechanic explain the little things you can do wrongly, like using multigrip pliers to grab a bonnet strut – (don't do this unless it's already ruined).

D Ching says:

Can you do a VVTI rattle for Corolla please

Cardiff car vlogs says:

Amd what size is the tool too remove the oil filter on your own camry regards Mark

Lance Steinbeisser says:

Why do independents use after-market parts? I tell my guy that he's the expensive part of the equation and that I want genuine parts, but he still will put an after-market part if I don't tell him every single time "no junk after-market parts."

Jimusmc0311 says:

I have a 2010 Yaris 115k..gas,oil, brakes,tires.. that's the list of expenses.. never had a problem

Andrew H says:

The grill and front portion of the fenders show a lot less rock chips, which is odd. Looks like they had some sort of hood protector that damaged the paint when it was taken off.

Nick says:

So really random question.. I also have the Quick Jack's and I love them. I am just curious if you could show in one of your upcoming videos where you place the Jack's and the rubber blocks when you lift the car? God bless

jayjay nella says:

Those oil leaks are part of the self lubing chassis system. Keeps the rust at bay. Axle clip is 1 man removal job, but need 2 to put the clip back properly. Ask me how I know.
On my 2001 Touring, the left front door lock doesn't work properly. Found out the electric actuator on the door lock is faulty. Went to Toyota dealer. Part was available for $240, but would take 2 weeks. Part is made by Asin. Found a set of actuators for both front doors on ebay for $100, made by Asin. Just ordered yesterday. I find some Toyota parts at dealer for reasonable cost, but other parts are sky high prices and wait time for availability. High prices for dealer parts deter people from buying from the dealer, esp since the parts are made at the same time as the new car parts on the same assembly line and factory. Almost $500 for $100 parts is not acceptable.

John Nguyen says:

My 2001 sienna has 230K miles and still running although has minor oil leaks and catalyst issues.

Trevor Fletcher says:

I own a 1997 camry with over 200,000 still drives like new

Jacob Webster says:

My 2008 tundra has 460k miles, still drive it daily. It's the main reason all of my family's vehicles are toyota.

John Pavon says:

Once again you gave a great presentation of what to watch out for, You are right some folks love the car willing to spend the money to keep it looking and running good.
