Hey Scotty, what do you think about the Toyota 4Runner?
I bought a White 2007 Camry Hybrid in Phoenix Arizona in 2010 with 21k miles because it averages 35 miles to the gallon, ….and I paid $18,000 cash.
The car came with a 100k mile warranty that included the hybrid battery. I failed to renew that warranty for another 100k miles.
As bad luck would have it, at 112kmiles the hybrid died.
Bought a refurbished hybrid battery for $3,500 cash. (Today in 2021 the cost is down to $2,250)
The Camry is now at 238,779 miles. No hybrid battery problems.
Other maintenance costs have been:
Synthetic oil changes every 4,000 miles,
3 purchases of 4 sets of tires.
Four-set break pad replacement 2 times.
Struts & shocks at 129,000 miles, 1 time.
1 radiator flush & thermostat replacement 220,000 miles
Car still running…. So I'm considering it a "break-even win" for me.
scotty how many mile highlander 2015 engine can last if doing maintenance on time and oil replacing every 4000 miles? can highlander engine last for 500k miles? Ty
Totally disagree that the highlander is a "money pit"… We have a 2008 hybrid highlander with 280,000 miles with NO repairs yet except the stereo system/backup camera but that was the dealer who broke it and refused to fix it.. just oil changes, brakes, etc. and it's been amazing
So basically it's the worst because it's expensive. Scotty doesn't like any car he can't repair. Lol.
Scotty would say a Tesla is probably worse than this Highlander.

This month the car is the best to buy, next month it become to the worst. Very funny
So you're saying that the non hybrid Highlander is a better choice?
