I’m not much of a mechanic but I love the solid axle pickups. I used to have an 84xtra cab that I never should have sold and recently picked up an 85 22r that I’m loving so far but still getting a feel for it as it’s more heavily modified than my 84. My question is about gearing vs crawl box. I use my pickup as a feed truck on a W Montana ranch that gets a lot of snow. As far as I can tell it’s currently stock gearing, and it’s on 35×12.5 with a six inch lift. I put it in 4low and let it crawl while I pitch hay from the back. The gearing and larger tires make it too fast in 1st gear 4low. In terms of what will be easier on the truck and also easier to complete would you change to 5.29s or install a crawl box? Found your channel when I picked up the 85 and am really enjoying it. Thanks

chris kelvin says:

I remember in the 90's my crew in a line of low-geared Suzuki's slowly walking it down the mountain one night. Not literally walking alongside our crawling vehicles, but because they were all convertibles, SITTING on the roofs and steering with our feet- enjoying the unique view most cars cannot.

Chris Hernando says:

6:14 OK just to confirm… with this dual transfer case setup, when you say both cases are in High, that means you can still run 2WD or 4WD in a 1:1 ratio, right? (not counting transmission and diff)

Shawn Eva says:

can you run one transfer in high and the other one in low?

Jono Spencer says:
