Excellent video quality sir, thank you for making it!!! Really helps.

Circa Industries says:

Nice video.. Unfortunately I am in the process of removing mine as I just bought a 2004 sv650s with it already installed. I need to lower the bike and the spring hook interferes with installing a bolt through the 2nd hole on a 3 hole end lowering link. Too bad as I really love center stands, going back to my 1971 Honda cb750 K1.

Nico Mertens says:

I used a screwdriver and a plastic strap.
Put the strap around the screw and leave a loop. Pull with screwdriver over the center stand. And then cut the strap when the springs are in place. Take a pair of pliers and grap the strap. Done.
This prevents scratches on your new stand.

Rainer Bauder says:

Very helpful video. Especially for the spring installation, worked very good and on first attempt. Thank you for posting.

Jesse says:

Kinda universal, thanks for the video, will install mine.

i just installed this stand on my 2018 vstrom 650. A couple of tips to anyone at this video

1. The video is good just watch out for a couple of things
2. READ STEP 4 in the manual BEFORE YOU DO STEP 3. STEP 3 SHOWS YOU HOW THE STAND COMES TOGETHER BUT DOESN'T SHOW YOU SOME SPACERS THAT NEED TO GO ON FIRST
3. You can use an old screwdriver to pull the springs on. I found that using the nail remover end of a hammer and using the hammerhead as a fulcrum worked too. But I wish I did the screwdriver trick

sphexes says:

Your video really prepared me for the installation. Thank you. The last spacer was a bit tough to get in, but it all ended up with great installation. I bought a wobble extension. That was very useful on the exhaust side.

John Davis says:

Very helpful video. I just put mine on a dl1000 2012 and it was similar. On the left side I had to contend with the exhaust as well but it was pretty straight forward. And yes I was able to get the spring on but yes I scratched it a little as well. πŸ™ Thank you for posting the how to I believed it saved some time for me.

Excellent video. 100%

Your video made it possible to install the Center Stand, the instruction from the maufacturer Heed was more like a cartoon (like the not so good workmanship)!
Thanks!

Either I am suddenly mechanically declined or recent Motech center stands don't mount that well or I received the wrong part. I spent hours trying to get mine installed and did nothing more than cross thread all four of the major connectors. I went so far as to go to Sears to get a thread restorer kit so I can hopefully salvage the threads and try a different center stand.

Mine also came with a separate bracket for the left hand side that contains the rubber bumper stop. My packing slip did say for the 2015 V-Strom 650 XT so it should be the correct one. Glad you all had better success than me. Really disappointed how mine turned out and can't say whether I blame myself or if I received a defective stand.

ronleon says:

Man, I was struggling with the springs. They went on in two seconds after watching this! Thanks for a good video.

I just did the installation of the SW Motech center stand on my 2015 DL650XT. The video sure did give me confidence to to the installation. I did purchase the spring stretching tool when I bought the center stand on line. I thought that this process would be most difficult, but the spring stretching gadget may have saved me some aggravation at the end. This part was easy with the tool. The most difficult part to do for me was the top 8mm bolt on the right side. The access was not easy due to the bike exhaust being somewhat of a hindrance. Otherwise, a big thank you for the video. VERY VERY helpful.

James Ferguson says:

Thanks, good video.

Mike Davis says:

Hey thanks so much for the video. I just finished the installation of the same center stand on my 2015 DL650. Your video was so helpful and made the project a snap. I had to do some creative tool rigging on the right side, but it all came together perfectly. Plus, I got the spring attached on the first try. Woohoo! Thank you!

Ivan Olivieri says:

Video excellent, good job !!

Lawrence V says:

Thank you for posting. I just did the same installation. It seems the design is a bit different now. That wobbler is the key. If you have that, this install is a piece of cake. But if you don't, you're gonna be a bit challenged and need a few tricks to get it done.

thanks for video, is great

great video

Willie du Plooy says:

Thanks for this video. It made the paper instructions so much easier to understand. Took me all of 20 minutes to install. I have a tip though: instead of using a screwdriver to hook up the spring, use a piece of rope and loop it through the spring end, then pull on the rope to hook the other end of the spring. You have much more strength and control than the screwdriver method.

Fort Sasquatch says:

Wow really good job on this video buddy! Thumbs up from northern Canada!

BiroDani82 says:

At least a proper quality tutorial video. Not a shaky blurred sh*t.
Good job mate, congrat!

George Lee says:

I think I will buy the Murphskit Center stand,it looks a lot simpler to install, instructions are better,it cost less and I think its made in the USA.

Thanks for posting!

Nice work. I'm new to bike maintenance. This was a great vid to get me started. One think I would specify in the future.. is layout the tools needed. Display the size socket that is needed (which I had ) and the hex adapter ( which I didn't have ). Like a true noob I thought I could monkey with it using a hex wrench.. bad idea.
The hardest part was the spring which thanks this vid was easy. It did take 3 tries though. Thanks

Sharif Abdou says:

Great advice, I'll definitely keep both on. My bike's an SV650, but watching your video gave me a good idea of what to expect during installation. Thanks again.

TangentAudio says:

I would definitely not recommend removing your side stand. A side stand is a much more stable way to leave the bike long term, and there are many cases where due to the surface that you're parking the bike, the center stand would not work.

I use the center stand primarily for chain maintenance, and also when I add fuel to the bike. I have also used it for winter storage, but I store it on flat, level concrete where I know it won't get bumped.

Sharif Abdou says:

Awesome tutorial, thanks for posting. After installing a center stand, would you recommend removing the side stand? I know it sounds like a strange question, but I've seen pictures where people keep both a center and side stand on their bike.
