My outer front boot popped off the outboard side of my’06 yamaha bruin
350. The boot is intact but clamp is missing. Can i use a hose clamp? I
don’t want to buy a banding tool. Also should I add extra grease?
you said polaris is different (junk) I have a polaris. Whats the
difference?
Do you have a video showing how to put it back in or can you make one. Im
having trouble with this.
Wow man i wish i found your vids before i did my cv shaft and boots / wheel
bearings What you do in minutes took me like two days. fuck.
These bands are from yamaha (honda uses the same), can be put on by hand
and reused if you’re very careful. If you use aftermarket bands you will
ABSOLUTELY need a banding tool! Thanks!
Yep, most of the time the inner joint (closest to differential) plunges.
That’s usually where the retaining clip is found.
Where exactly should the grease be or do u just dump it in where u did. Do
you rub it in specific places?
Thanks man!
I’ll be glad to make a close up video, but I won’t be able to for a few
weeks… :/ sorry
id likr to know I have a 06 sportsman ho and my rear universal joint is
very loose I think its the bearing do I have to buy a whole new universal
or just by another bearing it make a pretty bad knocking sound
Tht retaining clip is that normally on the side tht plunges on a grizzly 660
Yes, since it’s all covered in grease it stays together as one unit, but it
is the “inner race, cage and balls” all together as one unit
I usually just make sure the “cup” is about half full, it’ll squeeze
everywhere it needs to go when you put the components back in the cup!
haha! Lots of experience man!
Wish I would of watched this before I paid a shop $100 to replace a boot
after I pulled the axle!!
What did you pull of the shaft at 2:00 ? Do you know what it’s called?
Is the outer joint removed in the same fashion?
i have a honda fourtrax 300 and the right cv joint pops when i turn sharp
to the left only. the axles are tight, so im really not sure what it it.
Would you have any clue what it is?
Do you know if they sell it without having to purchase the entire cv joint?
On most Polaris’ the outer joint just knocks off, just give it a really
good whack with a rubber hammer
Yeah bud nice thanks for the help all the way from Australia
i noticed you didn’t clock the cv’s.i’ve always clocked on autos, does it
not matter on atvs.asking because i’m about to do my boots on my atv
No help does anyone no how to replace the outter
Sure, contact Gorilla Axle at 318-345-8186, be sure you know your year,
make and model, and placement on the ATV and they should be able to help
you out. Also you can Google Gorilla Axle to get to their website.
the axles can appear to be tight… but still pop, it is probably the right
outer CV joint… but COULD be a wheel bearing… but I doubt it! If the
popping is very consistent then it’s pretty much a guarantee it’s the joint!
You put the bands back on by hand. I assume that is tight enough in your
experience. I am getting ready to do my first boot replacements (all four
rear boots on 2006 rhino). Some other videos show various tools tightening
the bands versus hand tightening. Should I invest in getting a special tool
or will doing your method give me the same results?
Is there differant size cv boots or are they all the same size ? I have a
94 yamaha kodiak if they have differant sizes what size would i need and
what donyou think the price would be
