I just have it replace in my 2013 subaru XV . The PCV union is already brittle snd coroded .bro your video is so helpfull thanks
Thanks man ive been chasing this mystery leak and scent for years, the connector finally gave out and cracked and we found it. They have metal aftermarket versions available!
I did the change and two flushes. Does anyone know when the tan-like greasy substance stopped coming under the cap? Still getting a smudge in the morning. Not as much as before the PCV union change.
What about if you're getting exhaust gasses in the coolant?Could that be that also?
Well your video is actually very helpful. But I got to say you are the exact reason why I don't bring my car to mechanics anymore and just do all my own work LOL
this is complete BS..that plastic piece will never cause mixing.
All that was needed was a pair of new O-rings installed in the old part. Note to self.
Could a bad PCV valve have caused the blowby/blow-through on the PCV hose fixture? PCV valves are dirt cheap and easy to replace if in doubt.
Great tutorial. I did not even know this was a thing, and possibly a huge $$$ saver when the alternative is an engine-pull and head gaskets because the mechanic says so.
But how did you find out those oring where bad i keep hearing something about oil pan o rings
Thanks for video…I changed the engine oil cooler, I would like to change this next, but need to clamp those houses down to avoid oil spill. Hopefully this will help, did you do another flush after this change?
Seems like a dumb idea when they made the car…weak leak… Why not make it out of aluminum
While you're in there, your hoses may be dry rotted so you should replace them as well.
11815AC610 is the part number for the PCV hose (check your model year for compatibility) and 21204AB230 is the coolant hose (again, check your model year)
Subaru tech here.
The oil in the coolant is caused by oil seeping past the 3 o-ring seals in the upper oil pan to block mating surface into the coolng system.
The o-rings are below the level of the oil.
When the engine cools, pressure drops in the cooling system and over time, each cooling cycle draws in a small amout of oil into the cooling system.
Is the problem fixed? Mechanic told me if you don’t want to do head gasket we can try pcv valva and transmission oil cooler replacement!!
Did you fr not drain any coolant
