Thanks man. I’ll try again.

Brian O'Connor says:

Brian, I have a 97 Outback with the DOHC engine. I don’t have a cherry
picker, can I do the head gasket job while the engine is in the car if I
jack the motor up a bit? thanks alot

briansmobile1 says:

If you’re looking at the radiator from outside the car- yes. If you watch
the belts turn it’s clockwise.

sni1144 says:

Thanks for all of the great video’s! Who do you recommend for
remanufactured engines? You mentioned this was a crate motor from Colorado.
I am in Colorado, so if I could buy local, that would be great!

subaru733 says:

exz to work on love subaru in and out 3 hrs on my 06 sti

Flaheat says:

Wish I could have gone back in time to watch this when I pulled mine last
fall!

briansmobile1 says:

@PWRSTR0KER2008 Due to a cracked cylinder- after it warms up the
compression gasses make a bubble that collect around the thermostat causing
it to not open.

briansmobile1 says:

The customer ordered it. I don’t remember the name.

briansmobile1 says:

@counkev Sure.

Henry Lam says:

All your videos are really fantastic! I really enjoy watching them a lot.
You have plenty of tips to share and save me time. How much does the daily
driving motor cost and where to get them? Thinking about replacing mine
since it burn a lot of oil at 190k miles. The power train needs a rebuilt
as well. My ’01 legacy gt only spins 3 wheels, and the front passenger side
jerks along the way. My guess is the bad LSD. What’s your recommendation?
Thanks for the great videos and cheers! H.L

Joseph Slezak says:

Brian is there a way to unlock the transmission to push car with out
putting the battery in? Its a 2000 forester had a blown head the block is
back in, still have upper intake and front acc. to do. the car is outside
just want to push into garage. Thanks.

briansmobile1 says:

Look for more bell housing bolts. There are more on yours.

briansmobile1 says:

Yes, but it’s SO MUCH HARDER that way.

PWRSTR0KER2008 says:

Thanks Brian!

briansmobile1 says:

You’re welcome buddy!

tim says:

Whats the trick to reinsatall it.. engine won’t slide back to bolt to
transmission

briansmobile1 says:

You bet!

briansmobile1 says:

You can disconnect the cable from the trans shifter and then move it
manually. I always just put a tube into the two open fuel lines and put a
battery back in it.

SubieDood says:

Brian, Your videos are very informational – thank you for taking time out
of your day to make these videos for those of us who may be unsure about a
certain process. I myself will be replacing my head gaskets on my built
subaru 2.5L this weekend. You give me the courage and knowledge I need to
actually crack into this upcoming project. Keep it up sir!

briansmobile1 says:

You’re welcome Igor! It makes my day to know I was able to help you with
that!

joecoolcomputer says:

Great job Brian, wasn’t gonna seal up all my oil leaks until I had to do a
cltch or something but you made it look very dooable ! Are you familiar
with a kit that has all the high quality seals and gaskets for resealing
the 2.5 ? Joe

briansmobile1 says:

@prodriver1 The block has a hair line crack in it on cylinder two behind
the water pump. The old engine has a $500 core on it or so.

briansmobile1 says:

@Flaheat It makes it way easier eigh?

raimondszunda says:

I did a engine swap on 1992 mazda, and guess what? Yes, I did damage to
radiator, an it and it started to leak

joe clayton says:

Nice Video, if you have a chance can you make a video on how to change the

Mark Farist says:

Brian- I watched the video -both videos and followed all the steps and
still cant get the engine and transmission separated. Any ideas?

billblackadar says:

How much would you charge for a engine pull + oil pan separator plate
replacement + install? Thanks

briansmobile1 says:

You’re welcome!

briansmobile1 says:

Thanks- I’m glad you like them.

TugaLife22 says:

can the engine and tranny be pulled out as one peace?

briansmobile1 says:

@TheHighroller88 You’re welcome man.

tekniq511 says:

Had to tell you this video was very informative. Thank you for making it as
I enjoyed your comments and honestly of not editing footage. Very
entertaining.

DailyBrusher says:

Thanks for making and posting this video!

PWRSTR0KER2008 says:

Also, I don’t recall you saying why you’re replacing this engine. Just was
wondering what was wrong with it.

briansmobile1 says:

Same thing- have the transmission raised up enough such that the motor
mount bolts can clear the cross member.

chainsaw740 says:

Brian Thanks! for empowering me to tackle my Subaru engine removal. I have
however ran into a problem with regard to your point of lowering the motor
until there is small separation. I have done your recommendation of the
third jack stand under the transmission. When I lower the engine I still am
not able to get it to separate. Is there an area that I can “tap” against?
Or install jack screws? 04 Impreza RS w/ auto trans. Thanks in advance!!

tlarue789 says:

Yeah, great job! Your videos on the subarus have been very helpful to me.

mattdudley13 says:

Thanks for the Vid. I’m doing an EJ22E swap on a ’99 SUS. Bought it from a
friend with a cooked motor.. Tomorrow is day 4 pulling the motor, but it is
unbolted and ready to come out. I don’t think I’m doing too bad being this
is my first time with anything more than a basic brake job on a Subaru.

igor041 says:

You’re a life saver, brotha…got stuck on yanking the engine as it kept
pulling the tranny out with it. Thank you so much!

briansmobile1 says:

There are many of them. I would recomend just getting some good sealant and
a head gasket set.

joshua fuhrman says:

i need to do a direct swap on just my tranny this week and cant seem to
find a video on it. any tips would be much appreciated.

TheMeatman73 says:
