This why I’m keeping my 2016 manual tranny Subaru Forester as long as possible. Don’t want a CVT. When mine needs a new clutch so be it. Way less expensive.
My friend has a 2007 Subaru Legacy Wagon he bought a few years ago. The first time I drove it, I was impressed and then I looked at the odometer. The thing had 235k on it and ran like a beast. Subaru is like a hit or miss but most people that have them are really satisfied with them.

Subaru voluntarily extended our transmission warranty on our 2017 Crosstrek to 100,000k miles or 10 years. So far, so good.

Subaru engines have s u c k e d forever…they've had decades to fix their engines, but no…they still fail…for the same reasons…oil…oil…oil…dumbasses. I'll never own a Subaru…I've personally seen half a dozen of them die of oil starvation resulting in thrown rods, seized mains, and engine knocking that all required either totaling the vehicle, engine replacement or massive repair bills.
hey scotty, I am thinking about buying a vw jetta, I am thinking about getting a new one, I am not big fan of cvt, jetta seems to be one the only few economy cars that offer an automatic, is it a good idea?

Fun fact, Subaru transmissions are made by Jatco which is owned by Nissan
I think you’ll find Hyundai are doing the same, Im not sure but I think they have the same batteries as GM and have recalls on thousands of their batteries costing untold millions
My family bought a 2015 Legacy Limited brand new. It was a fully loaded one. So, not cheap. Sadly, the car is really really BAD. The powertrain is actually okay. However, the car has so much body roll. The seats are the most uncomfortable seat I've ever sat and the car has LOTS of NVH, cause fatigue to the driver and even passengers. A/C thermometer is never got to right temperatures. The audio system is garbage. We sold it and bought a 2018 Camry XLE, which is a much better car.
My suggestion for buying a Japanese car: Buy a Honda or Toyota, or maybe a Mazda. You can't go wrong with one of them. Never a Subaru.
If I am going to buy a car just to look at, it's going to be a Land Rover.
Still love my subaru, have had very little trouble 15 years later. But I stuck with a manual trans and non-turbo. Unfortunately no more manual non turbos to buy so they lost me as a customer.
I have a 2021 crosstrek and I got the notified about the recall a few days ago needless to say I’m not looking forward to the headaches this is gonna cause lol
