Could faulty sensors throw a p0420 code by any chance?

@BobbyTruth01 says:

Just installed a new thermostat in my '10 Forester. Having trouble burping the air out of system. Any idea how to fix that easily?

@nathanacquaviva9117 says:

Had an 03 Forester came in to my shop years ago, radiator popped replaced radiator with customer requested aftermarket. Couple weeks later he comes back for engine light coolant temp rational code swap t-stat. Then few weeks later same coolant code. After weeks of off and on troubleshooting we found that the aftermarket radiator was the cause. Finally talked customer into an oem radiator, problem fixed

@timothyball3144 says:

If i do a timing belt kit with water pump, I do the thermostat. And I use an OEM stat. Aftermarket ones typically suck.

@AMERICA_F1RST says:

Anytime I have to pull the upper hose I just replace my thermostat as it's 10 bucks and all the work to do so has basically been done ..

@jonnysanchez3833 says:

It's not always about it "opening too slow"

@joshuac837 says:

Yes! A thermostat code DOES NOT MEAN a thermostat is bad 100% of the time. It could very easily be a temp sensor!

@333SkateOrDie333 says:

Radiator popped? Haha I've never heard it like that. Exploded/leaking/blew apart. But never popped haha funny
