I agree, my 05 outback xt with 180k has been through four rear bearings.
Its like $500.00 at a garage to charge!!! F that doing it myself. Don’t
need anything even fancy to do it. No press etc. Great video.

rpranger says:

excellent video. Perfect amount of technical info mixed with personality
and even some social commentary. Best of all, I feel confident that i can
do this job myself now.

Chris Nelson says:

I appreciate this video, Just got the Wife’s car back from the dealer 2005
Subaru Legacy, She had leaking head gaskets so we went ahead and had the
dealer do that, then they called back saying it needed rings, rear wheel
bearings, pads etc.. I went ahead and said Go ahead and do the piston
rings, I’ll do the bearings, and break pads, rear diff cover gasket myself.
I have worked on just about everything but this subaru so reviewing this
video was great to point out all the little details like the ABS Sensor.
Great Video man!

Gordon Wolf says:

Well done Mate!! Just wondered if the whole hub assembly had to be
replaced rather than just bearing, but sounds like once your in, install
the whole assembly that way i don’t have to f%$# with pressing the bearing
in and out? Keep up the good work! I’m sure I will consult again with my
outback!!!

Deborah Grindle says:

What about an 03 outback same set up or no?

Dan Chestnut says:

Sweet. Thanks for doing this video. Helped me decide to fix the car instead
of junk it.

Gene Bold says:

tks, helped a lot. wondering if you torqued to specs & if so-maybe mention
them.

Josiah Julin says:

Is the bearing assembly shown in this video similar enough to the bearing
assemblies in the newer model years? Would there be any surprises?

john smith says:

thanks!
not sure if the 2007 outback impreza sport if the same?

Cong Dafei says:

Thank you so much for your video, Brian. It is very helpful.
However, I have a problem with removing the 4 nuts which are holding the
wheel bearing. They are rust, too hard to remove them. I was thinking to
use heat torch, but I am afraid damage the boot. Do you have any idea?
Thanks again

Mr.Goodbarf says:

Thanks for this! Helped a lot. Subscribed!

Miguel Ferrell says:

thanks!

VERY BOOD INFO THANKS

vin7s says:

Can this apply to a 91 Legacy?

Christopher Whelchel says:

I’m having trouble finding a tech write up on a 04 Impreza Outback. Is this
the same process? I hope it’s not the one I’m finding with the bearing
press-out etc method. This seems so much easier for bearing replacement.
Thanks!

playstation2bigs says:

spanky your wife now ???

25rsboy says:

wobble extensions ftw! im surprised that a lot of people i know who
regularly “work” on cars don’t know what these are, but they are a very
very commonly used tool in my toolbox. they always work well in those tough
spots

briansmobile1 says:

No, just a BFH The B is for Big the H is for Hammer.

briansmobile1 says:

lol you’re killin me!

briansmobile1 says:

You’re welcome Chris! Thanks for noticing!

briansmobile1 says:

It’s not too bad. A hub bearing can be obtained for around $100

rickm09 says:

iv been a body man for 30 yrs your vids are very helpful fora reference on
these jobs I’m taking in for extra cash keep up the good work

MegaLemon1980 says:

Thanks for the vid 🙂 you have saved the blueberry yet again! …that’s
just what we’ve named our Subaru, Happy Belated Birthday!!!!

briansmobile1 says:

The CEL light isn’t related, but the CC flashing would/could be. Check the
ABS sensor and related wiring for chafing, break, contact, fracture, etc.

briansmobile1 says:

Thank YOU Miguel! It’s a lot of work, but as long as people like yourself
appreciate it, I’m happy to do it!

Houngoon55 says:

Thanks for this video gonna replace my bad hubs Monday

Brenden Ward says:

Considering doing a front wheel bearing on a 2002 impreza ts wagon would
love to have a video like this as a guide!

IstasPumaNevada says:

Perhaps you could put a notice up at the beginning of long stretches of
frustration (audio or text) letting watchers know what timestamp the main
struggle ends? That’d be a lot easier than searching so you might keep more
people around, while still keeping the footage of the job more complete.
This would increase editing time a little though I suppose. Just a thought.

Frist Dodge says:

Watched in 720 camera is great !!! Best yet.. as always, thanks for
sharing… sounds effects haven’t improved 😛 heheheh.. Happy Birthday

ak99515ak says:

great video! how would i know if my subaru needs new bearings ? i have a 06
legacy gt i hear lots of road noise, it only has 50+ miles on it……

Sean Black says:

Video rules. Your extended effort even on seemingly silly/unnecessary steps
is what makes the “home shot” effect more personable and engaging. Camera
and audio are sharper than ever. Thank you and keep it up!

Mauricio Antonio says:

wow man. perfect video. now im ready to replace the hub.. thanks

briansmobile1 says:

I had to go to Spanky’s house and Barnes and Noble a couple of times. : )

matttrotta57 says:

When everything is staged it becomes just like reading a Chilton’s manual
and we all know that reading a manual lacks the essential. I come to
Youtube to see it in action. If the manual was enough I wouldn’t be here.

kary1982v6 says:

Happy belated b-day amigo! looks like the camera issue got figured out..
thata good thing

Lance Burckhart says:

Thanks for the great demo. I’m doing the rear hubs on my 2007 tribeca and
have two problems: #1 I cannot get the ABS sensor to pull out even after
removing the 10mm bolt. #2 I am having a very hard time separating the hub
assembly from the mounting plate. Any help or advice you can give me is
greatly appreciated.

MoneyMarcMes says:

Hi Brian, Can you tell me what specialty bit sockets I need to work on my
2000 subaru outback? I’m looking to buy Hex bit sockets as well as TORX
drivers but do I need metric or sae for the hex sockets and do I need TORX
or Torx Plus drivers??? Thanks!

Phizinza says:

Really helpful mate! Cheers

James Crowton says:

Who is Spanky? Your assistant? Friend?

Chris Wolf says:

The time and effort you put into these videos us greatly appreciated! Thank
you!

brianbeifuss says:

And my question is I’ve tried lots of PBB and beating on the hub but it
won’t break free. I have a 3 arm puller recommended by a few others.
Problem is the puller pushes the axle back into the diff. I’ve pushed it
more than 1.5 inches without much resistance and without any movement of
the hub. I’m worried I’m going to damage the axle and or diff if I keep
turning the puller. How much torque can I send up the axle toward the diff
before iI’ll break something? The hub is really stuck.

Ryan Davis says:

I watch this vid and many like them over and over!

beenselock says:

happy birthday man. what would you think is best, a scanner that could read
abs codes or a scanner that could read certain model obd1 codes. i
moonlight as a mobile mechanic and my scanner was “damaged” recently by a
clumsy customer and i am having trouble deciding on a new one im juggling
between the equus 3140 and the equus 3160
