if you are just going to disable the code ide recommend plugging both
valves and the air pump.
The price is insane I did just one to save and was lucky it was right one
and was able to get through emissions, that was about a year ago, but now I
have the code again… looks like another $350, but I will say thanks for
showing it can be done w/o removing intake like the manual says. I’m stuck
in Connecticut since you asked 😉
@harleysuxass I did have a couple codes and my research showed these were
common problems, dealership recommended doing both. I do not remember the
codes.
Could you tell me how you were able to diagnose that these valves were the
problem? Thanks for the videos they are very informative.
@spelunkerd Honestly it was such a pain in the butt job I didn’t look that
close. But I think that they can send air into the exhaust But I do not
think right into the cats. No One quote me though! From looking at them on
the car, it seems they are mounted so that any water/condensation will end
up sitting in the valve… not good.
Great video! I was gonna tackle this my self in my apartment parking lot
but I now think it’s just gonna have to get done at the shop.
Thanks for the vid and taking the time to show that. My engine light came
on a few weeks ago and my cruise light was blinking. The code was a P2441
(secondary air vavle needs replaced or is stuck) I’m just going to disable
the code from the ECU and call it good.
the code is p2441 it just came up to mine sti 2009 the stealrship quote me
at $1300…fucking crazy
Are these the valves that send fresh air down the exhaust to the cat, to
allow the cat to warm up more quickly at startup?
