PnoyBoy says:

could someone tell me how you supported the inner race when you pressed the new hub on?

Patrick Bostian III says:

I just need a press. Any recommendations?

Ford Driver says:

Jesus wept! I did both front bearings on my V8 Ford Falcon 2001 model, with a 32mm socket in around 45 mins. I thought I will do my wifes gen 3 Liberty, but I will check YT first to see whats what. I will be leaving this one to a mechanic and save myself the grief. Great video and thanks for showing all angles.

easytopleez33 says:

Good vid on the job. Only thing I would have done differently is replace the outer cv boot since you were right there. But, to each his own. Good Job!!

Colin Parkinson says:

is the plastic insert in the bearing remove by the hub being inserted?

colin callaghan says:

Hey I’m doing this on my 03 legacy, I purchased the new hubs and cv axles. But I don’t have a press. If I buy the spindles too will I still need a press? Or does the new spindle come with seals and lock rings installed?

Kane Kickz says:

Hey I need some help. I’ve had my tires balanced and alignment checked! Once I hit about 40 mph and above I can feel/hear a whomp whomp vibration as the tires go around but it’s slower than the wheel rotation itself! Only does it when I go straight or slight right turns but if I make a left turn on a windy road it stops during that time. Would this probably be my left wheel bearing? Since weight being shifted to right side is making it stop momentarily?

Evan Schock says:

i see you were lightly hitting the spindle/caliper bracket i believe with the hammer to knock out from the ball joint… when my friend taught me how to put in a new CV, he put a pipe pointing directly into and against the A-arm or control arm right there next to it and banged on it from up high downward with a sledge to drop out the ball joint, any concern banging on the a arm like that?

Fred Flynstone says:

great….  way more work than I was hoping for. how much can I charge for this job?

Hestikind Enterprises says:

Fuck Subaru is what this video tells me lol it's getting parked might fix it for next winter

steve sisniegas says:

really one of the best videos on youtube, perhaps you need to make a new video (how to rebuild your caliper with new pistons). best regards from Miami.

Natedoc808 says:

That angle headed ratcheting torque wrench is the envy of the interwebs right now

Natedoc808 says:

Need a favor: have you come across the older style, now discontinued dual tapered roller bearing set up? If you, do you press out the lining in the bore of the wheel hub that has the dual tapered shoulders to accept the older style tapered roller bearings prior to pressing in the new straight walled races for the 28016aa011NT part number bearing? Trying to double check before damage the hubs on my 02 wrx wagon which has the old style tapered roller bearing now discontinued. Thanks in advance

David Vithayarath says:

I watched your video and decided to do my wheel bearings. Im having trouble with the seals. The outer and inner seals. Which one goes where? Is the inner seal where the clip ring goes on or is that the outter seal that goes in there? How can you tell which one is inner and outer seal?

justforkiks29 says:

How long did it take you to do it? I know video is 18 min but I'm sure it was edited down to show the important parts.

DJ Statyk says:

…Oh fuck, this is intimidating. Ight, i can do this. I'm about to order the same Hub kit you posted in the description – 1992 subaru legacy 2.2 Non turbo 4×4. $64.99 for the seals, axle nut, and retaining clib and a bearing. I just paid $62.99 at pep boys….fuck that, i'm returning this shit tmmrw i can wait…

HUGE QUESTION: You don't have to use a press kit to get the hub back on? Only if you're replacing the ball joint? My ball joint has tears in it, should i just replace it, or leave it alone?

Update: I got the hub assembly as posted in the description, i ordered sunday, it came wednesday(today) Or depending on when you read this. Anywho, i dropped the spindleoff off at pep boys and am having them remove the old bearing and put the new hub/bearing and all that in. i gave them the kit. They said $50. I'm not complaining.

Christine Valentine says:

Right, good video. I went by a shop asking about bearings and they told me that I have to change my break pads as well. They haven't seen them but is that true?

Kyong Song says:

Great video. Too bad my old 03 Forester also has pressed wheel bearing.
It feels like my car's wheel bearing is going bad, so I think I will have to do this.

HF sells hydraulic punch, which can be used to take out that bearing with wheel bearing adapters. There were some people using that on Youtube.
I might try that since I don't want to risk the bolt holding the lower ball bearing.

By the way…
I once thought of using knuckle parts from 09 Forester, which uses pre-assembled hub.
It seems everything fits right up, but has slightly different camber angle. Duh.

Julian Slowik says:

For the average diy kind of person, no one has a bearing press to swap out the bearing. Much easier to buy a preassembled hub assembly with all parts brand new. Regardless great video

mitreswell says:

Surely you lubed up the hub and the seal with grease before you pressed it into the bearing?

Skylar Grabner says:

Are you able to buy the bearing and hub assembly already pressed together from any vendors you know of?
