Thanks for tuning in! I’ve got the dashboard rattles sorted out on the WRX!
Turns out it was from two places.

1elAguila says:

ebu touy says:

9:34 lol, i was thinking you attempting the jump “Gymkhana brian edition”

laj5126 says:

Brian, from the video it seems like you have no snow in your area!!! What’s
up with that? Can you ski?. I know you are busy and I may not get an
answer, that would be ok. So here it is….2003 Saab 93, intermittent no
charge situation, threw a battery and new alternator at it and still the
problem comes and goes, makes the car not trustworthy. Any clue as to this
head banger? Thanks and please keep the vids coming, They go well with my
Sunday coffee.

bennydman666 says:

I want you to de-rattle my car lol

Tyrone Ross says:

I just ran straight pipes when I got fed up with interior rattles, now I
cant hear a thing :D

Michael Block says:

Professional and hobbyist sound system installers! Heed!

FJ80Coop says:

With the Dodge Ram dashes a lot of the rattles are from the dry
rotted, busted plastic pieces behind the dash,or the dash itself…

Brandon B says:

I got SOO tired of my WRX rattling from all over (it rattled from new) that
I gave up finding all of them. You will never find all of the rattles.
Ever. Remember, the WRX is based on a cheap econobox. Eventually I replaced
it with a fast BMW. The BMW is fast, quiet, and a sleeper. Someone will be
very surprised when they take off the door panels of my old WRX and find
all of the dynamat!

julien bourgeois says:

How do you know so much about cars? Did you go to a mechanic school or
something? By the way, by watching this i fixed most of the rattles in my
Dodge thanks! :)

Brad Nimbus says:

Hahaha, what an awesome crusade against rattle! I legit lol’d when you
found the camera rattling.

I LOVE your car!

David Ammerlaan says:

spose i should do this to my 96 corolla. 🙂
thanks for the vids brian. always learn something new! and hey you were
right, we got some fresh snow!

A2892Z says:

Turbo Scooby sounds awesome!!!

SeanBZA says:

That double sided tape is used to do arts and crafts, and is available in a
roll, much cheaper than the hollywood tape. Lasts for a lot of cars as
well. The thick door and speaker tape is a good thing as well, you can get
sheets of it as sound deadening foamfor cars, cheap and you can cut big odd
shapes out of it.

Sic Semper Gumby says:

Man, that view’s awesome.

William Large says:

It’s funny how all of this works. You’re 2,000 miles from me but somehow,
watching your videos, I’ve come to count you as an old friend. Every time I
send a link to your site to someone, I hear back… “He really knows what
he’s doing and what a nice guy.”

That’s unique on the Internet in my experience.

So, if you ever get “back east” (laughed when a commenter here thought you
were in Connecticut), please stop by and I’ll take you out for a cruise in
the ocean on my old boat. I think you’d like it.

Continued success!

Bill.

Folks like yourself are what makes this world and Youtube a good
experience, with all the bad there is some good…. Thank you…

TeddyBearPL says:

I like how the story unfolded. Great turnaround when you found out that the
“defrost bezel” was only a part of the problem. From then it was like
“Inception”.. rattling inside rattling element :D

Rob Heywood says:

Thank you Brian!! You have taught me a lot!

rhkips says:

Oh man, some nice little finds there! Excuse me while I raid that little
list you posted with the video~

About two years ago, I got so fed up with all the rattles in my car, I
stripped the entire interior down to bare metal–even the airbags and HVAC
pods came out–and dynamatted every…single…surface… Any metal
bracing that was removable came out and got coated in rubberized sound
deadener. Every crevice and cavity got filled with pliable spray foam
(protip: Don’t use AB foam or prepackaged equivalents; it’s too hard). The
insides of plastic panels and trim pieces got sprayed with sound deadener,
too. It was a month-long project, but the car is almost as quiet as a
Rolls Royce! The window glass passes more road noise through than anything
else. …Need to figure out how to laminate that, now…

What really amazed me is how much rattling can “affect” ride quality. Not
having the entire interior clacking and crackling about, you don’t even
notice the little bumps and jars that you once could. Our brains are funny
things…

Hless421 says:

Your videos are awesome. Simple, to the point and very informative. You
have the tools (which you always tell us how to get) and knowledge to make
the job as simple as possible. I can tell you put a lot of effort into
them. I don’t work on cars really but I know for a fact you help people
that do a ton. Keep the vids coming.

jmatthewstewart says:

Love the Subaru videos, keep it up. Thanks too.

OneLegged hondamechanic says:

Thank you too! I enjoy all of your videos. Even though I have been working
on cars for 20 years, I still like getting other people’s perspective on
repair approaches. Also, Your positive attitude is inspirational to others.

finding peace and gratitude in one’s present is key to happiness, thanks
for inspiring others to enjoy life as well as empowering people with
knoweledge.

Dude! I don’t even want to know how you discovered that Hollywood tape. 3m
makes a double sided foam tape that is about 1/16″ thick. Thanks for your
videos.
