I Jumped the gun here… A few months back I installed a Carbon Creations Varis Style Widebody on my 2017 Subaru WRX STI. I thought I liked it and I did not. The car was TOO wide and I felt like it would kill the drivability of the car. So now I am paying the price for my dummy self. We have to swap out the Rear Doors, Drill, Grind, and Weld, and repaint the rear quarter panels. So I guess I am going to learn how to weld on the body of a car.

Love the car but the wing gotta go!
Make a quick release, the moveoverracing one is WAY over priced
Super long comment incoming.
You will definitely need to use something on the patches to fill your grinder grooves. Use a finishing glaze on the patches. It is thinner and sands much smoother than normal body filler. Be sure to sand the paint around the patches down so there isn't a step from bare metal to paint. Sand the paint and the glaze down with 80-ish grit Sand paper. Finish sanding the glaze with 180-ish Sand paper. And finally Sand the whole area with 320-ish sand paper. The intent is to remove most, if not all, of the scratches of the coarser grits of sand paper. The 320-ish paper gives a rough enough surface for primer to adhere, but not too rough that it can be sanded smoother for paint prep.
Also, as you are a rookie with body work, don't be surprised if you need to wipe the area 2 or 3 times. It happens, and everybody's gotta start somewhere.
You can also check with the body shop you are taking Blu to and see what they would like you to do.
Song at the start of 1:42 ????
Gotta open up where you sanded down you want to see a little bit of every layer of paint otherwise your gonna make a bullseye no primer will fix it even when blocked down also don’t put filler on paint only metal imma message you on insta so I can go into detail and you can ask any question also a two day turn around from paint can lead to issues considering everything is gonna suck back especially with the primer only sitting for maybe a night just a thought I’d also remove anything you don’t want hardline or just taped up for paint don’t want to brag but like I’ve stated before did paint work for mclaren for some years
U mean buy a Subaru. I agree I wouldn’t have bought one either
How was the fitment on the carbon creations kit? I’m interested it going that route
Hey Tanner, where did you get the flare trim at? Also where did you get the rivnut tool at also?
Which fender flares are those
Move Over Racing sells a QR kit for the VA chassis, might be able to have him make one with the pins mounted further up to clear the kit?
You go boy!
After so many years of seeing the J25 fridge in the background, this is the first time I've heard it being mentioned lol
I like wraps there cool and all, but i agree with you i want paint. Make sure you got a fire extinguisher handy too.
Buy bandaid stickers to put over the holes. I mean it's the cool thing to do and adds 5hp per sticker….
Attaboy on the glass, I was talking and cheering you on the whole time!!!
recently stumbled on a scotty kilmer video where he says specifically all subaru flat 6 engines are awful and unreliable. hope u prove the old man wrong!
What's good homie, those body colored fender flares are good money/dinero bueno!! Leave those fender flares and call it a day!!
Evercoat rage gold body filler. I give everything a skim with tiger hair first. It's fiberglass reinforced filler. Kitty hair>rage gold>spot putty> high fill primer.
I swapped my driver door on my Jeep WJ, mine is a limited and the door I got was laredo, I had to swap all the wiring harnesses, speakers, heated mirrors, door locks, window controls, etc. Its not hard but it is tedious thats for sure.
Would be interested in watching you work through the prep stages from bare metal.
