Make your SUBARU ride like its new again: strut repair on a 1999 FORESTER. DIY repair.

Welcome back! I hope you find this useful in some way, and if you do may I ask for your subscription today! In todays episode I document how to do a shock replacement on a first or second generation (1998-2008) Subaru Forester. Most of this would be applicable other Subarus of the same vintage, and even other vehicles utilizing a coil over setup; long time viewers will see may similarities in the architecture of this strut setup with the shock setup on the old 97 Tacoma from my earlier videos. As I said, Impreza Outback, and Legacy models will be similar, though I do not remember exactly when the rear suspension shifted away from struts to independent springs and shocks in the Outback and Legacy models.

Projects like these highlight why I like these cars so much: its simplicity; The only tools you REALLY need are a 12 and 19 mm wrench. Everything else I used to get the shocks out was simply for speed or convenience.
