Installing Subaru Impreza Rear Lateral Links (rear lower control arms) & TSS Rear Subframe

Installing Subaru Impreza Rear Lateral Links (rear lower control arms) & TSS Rear Subframe

In this video I install Subaru Impreza rear lateral links (aka lower control arms) & TSS rear subframe on my GC WRX STI project car. The rear lateral links on older Subarus is prone to severe rusting. This can make it very difficult to remove the links, bushings, and other components. Instead of using heavy tools or extreme heat, we can use leverage. While I was doing that, I decided to change my OEM subframe. Being from the northeast of USA, it was pretty old and rusty. I replaced it with a custom rear subframe from TSS that is lighter, stiffer, and better looking.

Did you reuse the factory bolts for the lateral arms to the subframe or did you get replacements??

Vehicles n' Guitfiddles says:

Thanks for this, I'm currently stuck with that long lower bolt doing a bearing job, tried heat, air hammer, big hammer, etc. Just to get CV axle out, i'm like 2mm from not needing to remove the bolt (removed strut), but would rather remove it since i have to get the CV axle back in. After your video, i'm going to put the strut back on, and then try twisting the bolt some more with a breaker bar – it's at least twisting maybe 45 degrees now, but won't budge longitudinally. I've dealt with the bolt on another forester before no problems, but this one is STUCK!

Ronnie Boucher says:

thank you teacher and master mechanic sir = bloody well done !

Steven says:

about to doing the same thing as you. Loving the videos
