Conrad Bottorff says:

that's all well and good. how do you do a subaru Tribeca b9

female garage says:

A lot of bla bla, the video was supposed to be about the valve cover gasket replacement, but after I watched part of it, I'm not sure whether it's actually about that (well certainly not only about that). I didn't find it helpful, only annoying.

Gernnylornsx Lor says:

Is this valve cover the same as the 04-05 sti? Is there any different between 04-05 sti and wrx.?

David Holquin says:

Hey man, replaced my cover gaskets on my 02 wrx, failed the first time with the passenger side in seating the gasket properly. Had a small engine fire. Got it replaced and know for a fact it's seated properly this time. I must still be leaking oil since now whenever I drive it I have white smoke pouring out from that side after the motor is heated up. Cleaned the bottom to trace the leak, used a mirror to check where it's coming from and can't find anything. Do I have a severely bad leaking head gasket?

NzJohny says:

here in new zealand basically everyone says subaru is unreliable. glass pistons. leaky etc.. but ive never had a problem :/

b1zzl3 says:

i use brake clean and scotch brite and alot of elbow grease on my car

Shawn Liang says:

Hello and thank you for the video. Could you provide a list of parts required for this job?

Mario Kay says:

Great video! Thanks for sharing.

Cristo H says:

I heard a good way to clean the parts is take it to the car wash and use the engine cleaner then blow the #$%t out of it with the rinse….never actually tried it but I bet it would work good.  Thanks for the video, daughter just got a 2003 wrx, so getting ready for some upkeep.  Thanks again…

Hey Brian and Brian fans, I found the cordless ratchet here: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200670134_200670134
An awesome deal. I just ordered one.

Jeremy Cuadra says:

watched all 4 videos multiple times. excellent instructions. I have the same 03 wrx and am having a valve cover leak. I am doing this asap. I just have one question. how many pounds do I tighten the gasket screws?

anthony evans says:

Hey Brian, I just wanted to thank you so much for this video! I completed the driver side today and hope to get to the passenger side this weekend. Your tips were so helpful especially the magnet to get that bottom bolt in. The job took me awhile as this is my first time ever doing something like this. I bought the Subaru about a month ago and have been watching all your vids, so keep them coming.

Alan Osborne says:

Hey Brian I just watched your video on replacing valve cover gaskets. Great how to but here is my question. I am looking to replace the wife's car and we really like the Subaru Crosstrack but I am told the Imprezza Sport Hatchback has more power. What are your thoughts about that. And the other thing I wanted to ask is the history of the leaky valve covers on the Subaru products. That gives me night mares. Has this issue been addressed with the newer 2012 and up Subaru models or is this something I have to deal with. Thanks for your DIY videos. I'm 63 years old and have been wrenching my own vehicles since 1969 when I bought my first car a pristine 1954 Chevrolet Belair with 18,000 miles and no I no longer own it. Thanks Again

Anthony Zamora says:

hey Brian can a leaking valve cover lead to white smoke on a cold start up ? ej205

Avalon83 says:

At 21:43 you said you can't get the Felpro set to seal on a 1997 Subaru 2.5L. I am about to do a job on a 1998 Outback 2.5L and I'm pretty sure that's the same. I also already purchased the full Felpro set and am about to pull the motor. Please elaborate which seal you are having problems with. I hope you don't mean the head gasket…. I really don't want to do this job twice just because I picked the wrong set to go with….

Fit BMX says:

Great video set!
For cleaning I get a quart can of acetone at the hardware for $7, use it with a rag and a light brush, you can clean anything off. For a harder cleaning blast, I use carb cleaner.

Alex White says:

I clean my parts with zep I.D. red works awesome!!!!

LoFiLime says:

This showed up in recommended videos just an hour after I did this to my 99 impreza, now I know I did it right, good vid mate!

Seppa says:

Any DIY'er that wants to or has to get back into wrenching, ( for me it was a 25 year hiatus), Brian is absolutely right , get a set of ratcheting box wrenches. The tight spaces in today's cars make them a must.

Jessie Winegeart says:

Parts cleaning? Large plastic tub, diesel, stiff round brush, stainless steel wire brushes, brake cleaner.

Jessie Winegeart says:

I've had an issue with some fouling on the 2 plugs on the drivers side. Replaced plug well seals, wires, coil, & both injectors and cover gasket. Now it's back to fouling again and missing. Oil back in the plug wells. Anyone with an idea about what's going on?

spelunkerd says:

My wife is thinking about getting a Subaru. Any thoughts about repair issues with those?

David Hammond says:

Awesome video Brian. WRX Impreza spark plug are so much nicer than the MY04 Turbo Forester in terms of clearance with the engine bay. I feel stupid in that I never thought about taking the valve cover off to do the MY04 Turbo Forester plugs – no stupid wobble spark plug socket needed!

toroon01 001 says:

I'm with you Brian. Q tips on my car and a quick spray of break cleaner on yours.

Truth hurts!

spike spiegel says:

another badass video
keep up the good work

Paul Morales says:

If you take a look at the harness for the coilpacks. Each coil pack will have one connector you have to detach. If you look close there is one "white" and one "black" connector . The "white" connector goes to the front cylinder and the "black" connector goes to the rear cylinder. So cylinders 4 and 3 will have the "white" connectors and cylinders 2 and 1 will have the "black" connectors. That's how I remember. Great video!!!
