There is a trick about these e34s when they sit air may be trapped in the cooling system, on the top of the radiator is a small plastic thing , you need to start the car , let it run and slowly release the air

E34! Yes! Ditch those wheels for some style 5s. That’ll make it period correct (and look way better).
That’s a big risk that you bought this cheap, hoping the fixes are small enough to keep it under the book value of this car. Then being able to sell for a profit. Cool build but what a risk to sink money into.

Wow, the vehicle was taken off the road because of a cooling system issue for so long? I wonder if the previous owner kept paying for the registration till you got it or you’ll have to pay to reinstate it in California.
Next, you’ll want to have that clutch fan replaced with an electric one. Update the infotainment system, get the entire brake system replaced and do a full powertrain tube up.
Clean it all up but keep the rest of the car as stock as possible.
