How to Replace the Timing Belt and Water pump Subaru 2.5L Part 1: Tear Down

In part 1 of a two part series the front end the front end of a 2012 Subaru Legacy with a 2.5L engine is torn down for replacement of the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, 3 idlers and the thermostat. This procedure may be similar for other Subaru models with this engine made between 2006 and 2014 such as Impreza, Forester, Outback and Baja.
